Syd Favourite To Knock Them Out Of The Park In Gold Cup Thriller

The final six greyhounds have been confirmed for the final of the Best Car Parks Gold Cup Open 525 at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night and it’s trainer Pat Buckley who has the favourite in Knocknaboul Syd.

This son of Droopys Sydney – Knocknaboulmadam cruised to victory last Saturday to claim the opening semi-final of this €20,000 contest in a time of 28.55.

Syd made all from trap two producing a sectional of 2.08 to hold off challenges from Blastoff Fire who was three and a half lengths back in second and Ballymac Cashout who was a further half a length back in third.

We have made Syd the 11/10 favourite from 7/2 to become the 2021 Gold Cup champion this weekend as he takes his chances wearing the white jacket.

The Liam Dowling trained Ballymac Cashout is the 2/1 second favourite to give his County Kerry handler back-to-back victories in the race.

Cashout was outstanding in the quarterfinals where he beat Kncoknaboul Syd in 28.01, but things didn’t go to plan for him on Saturday night. This youngster takes his chance from trap four in the final but he will need a flying start.

The second semi-final was a messy affair to say the least and you could have thrown a blanket over them at the finish.

Minglers Popeye for Eddie Moore grabbed the win on the line in dramatic fashion in the slowest clock recorded in this competition of 29.03. Minglers is the 20/1 outsider while Inforapenny who finished second is 11/2 and third place Boylesportsbingo is 7/1.
