Tiger In The Hunt For The Irish Open

There’s a familiar face at the head of the betting for the Irish Open as we released the first betting for this year’s renewal at Ballyliffin in County Donegal.

Tournament host Rory McIlroy, winner at the K-Club in 2016, has been placed at the top of the market at 6/1 to bag his second Irish Open title and give himself the perfect springboard to launch his bid for a fifth major at the British Open at Carnoustie two weeks later.

World number 6 Jon Rahm, who has confirmed he will return to Irish shores to defend the title he won at Portstewart in 2017, is 9/1 second favourite ahead of English youngster Matthew Fitzpatrick who most recently posted a 12th place finish at the US Open.

Tiger Woods is in the betting at 12/1

Woods continues his search for a first win since his return to the fairways, as rumours continue to swirl that the four-time Masters champion will be jetting in to Ballyliffin as part of his British Open preparation.

Hoping to join an illustrious list of home winners is Paul Dunne. The Greystones man has been made a 25/1 shot to claim his home Open, a tournament he says he puts on a par with the four majors.

Offaly’s Shane Lowry and three-time major champion Padraig Harrington are 33/1 and 50/1 respectively to add the Irish Open victories they scored in the past at Baltray and Adare Manor.
