The Form –  Tottenham v Man United

Tottenham’s Form

Tottenham is coming into this match in poor form on Sunday they were demolished away to Newcastle 6-1 with them conceding a remarkable four goals inside the first 21 minutes. In the match, they conceded an XG of 3.7 to their XG of 1.0.

This was their second defeat in a row following their 3-2 defeat at home to Bournemouth making which means their record is two defeats, two draws and one loss in their last five matches. Despite this poor form a win for Tottenham could bring them as high as fifth on the table and only three points off Man United in fourth.

Man United’s Form

Man United enter this fixture in mixed form, Sunday they qualified for the FA-Cup Final following their 7-6 penalty victory over Brighton but the previous Thursday they put in arguably their worst performance of the season to lose 3-0 to Sevilla and were knocked out of the Europa League at the Quarter-Final stage despite their early lead late into the first leg.

However, in the league, Man United have won their last two league matches 2-0 beating Nottingham Forrest and Everton to solidify their place in the Top-4.

A win for Man United will put them nine points clear of Tottenham with two games in hand and go a long way to securing their Champions League place for next season.

Tottenham v Man United Preview

Tottenham’s Attack

Despite Tottenham’s stuttering form going forward their 58 goals this season is good enough for the league’s fourth-best attack. Led by the ever-clinical Harry Kane who has a fantastic 24 goals and 2 assists his goal-tally is only bettered by Haaland this season in the Premier League.

Kane even managed to grab a goal in their 6-1 defeat the weekend showing that despite Tottenham’s form he is always dangerous. Aside from Kane, Heung-min Son has 8 goals and four assists this season and offers another effective option in the Tottenham attack.

Man United’s Defence

Man United have conceded 37 goals this season which is the fourth-best defence while if you remove their 7-0 defeat from Liverpool and 6-3 defeat to Man City, they would have the best defence in the league. That being said this is not the case and with Martinez and Varane out they’ll likely have 2/3 of Maguire, Lindelof or Shaw at CB which Kane and Son will fancy their chances against.

Down the flanks, the Wan Bissaka resurgence has been welcomed at the club but the LB slot is still up for grabs with Malacia’s underperformance recently, Shaw an option at CB and Dalot

Man United’s Attack

Marcus Rashford has returned to the Man United attack in the last two matches; however, question marks remain over his fitness with him not the sharpest since returning to the side.

His dynamism and pace is crucial to the Man United attack and with Martial flattering to deceive in the last two matches don’t be surprised if Work-Horse Weghorst returns to the side.

That combined with the likes of an in-form Antony, Bruno and Sancho who will gain confidence from his penalty on Sunday. Man United offer a more balanced attack than Tottenham

Tottenham’s Defence

Tottenham has been awful defensively this season conceding 51 goals in their 32 matches an average of 1.59 goals per match, only five teams have a worse defence this season. In their last two matches, they have conceded nine goals three against Bournemouth and six against Newcastle.

Tottenham will be very vulnerable defensively and even their keeper Lloris is not the player he once was.

Tottenham v Man United Prediction

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Man United

Tottenham looks to be in disarray following their 6-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle while Man United seem to be doing just enough in Domestic Competition despite their European elimination last Thursday.

That being said Kane is on fire this season and with a make-shift CB pairing expected for Man United they could still score.
