Track Record Breaker Redzer Slashed For Corn Cuchulainn

Back in September 2013 Airforce Duke produced a stunning run to win over the 750 yards trip to record a new track record of 41.11.

For almost six years he retained that record but on Friday night at HQ it was smashed by Redzer Ardfert when he cruised to a nine and a half-length victory in a blistering 41.06.

We were forced to slash the price on the Brendan Maunsell-trained star into 3/1 from 8/1

…to join Irish Cesarewitch winner and English Greyhound Derby 3rd, Skywalker Logan as joint favourite. Logan is a talented dog who loves the extra yards and was very unlucky in the Dundalk International race earlier this month.

Last week’s heat winner Slippery Jade loves the 750 yards trip and sees it out very well with her price cut into 9/1 from 16/1. Her 41.49 victory last week was very impressive as she finished three and a half lengths in front of Skywalker Logan, with Are Nagini (7/1) another half a length back in third.

Cushie Jet is now the 4/1 second favourite trimmed from 6/1 and this son of Droopys Jet – Except Change only started racing over the 750 yards distance two weeks ago and remains unbeaten in this competition. He beat Slippery Jade by six and a half lengths in the opening round and remains a dark horse.

Riverside Honey was second to the track record breaker Redzer Ardfert in what was an extremely hot race and is 10/1. She failed to finish in front of Redzer in the Open 725 final at Kilkenny in May and is also in the hottest heat this Friday from trap six with Skywalker Logan, Are Nagini, Redzer Ardfert and heat winner O Mahoney all to beat.

Graham Holland has a strong kennel of stayers at the moment and his O Mahony may prove some good value for punters at 14/1, from 16/1. He has one of the fastest sectionals of 13.65 which he recorded last week to win in 41.61 and if he can keep producing that level of early pace, he will find himself in the final.
