Wicklow Punter Wows With Winners To Scoop €8,000 Windfall

A punter in County Wicklow is toasting their Horse Racing knowledge after beginning the week on the right foot by landing a tasty four-figure payout.

The anonymous customer went into a local BoyleSports shop to strike a €1 each-way accumulator and a €0.50 Lucky 15 on four horses in the Monday evening meeting at Newcastle.

They were nearly scuppered from the off but 9/1 shot Menin Gate came from behind to get up just before the line in the 5.30, while Swiss Connection (11/4) only had a short head to spare when winning the 7.00.

That ‘Swiss Connection’ continued when 8/1 shot Perfect Swiss landed the 7.30, leaving a nervous one hour wait until the final race of the evening.

Jeffrey Harris needed to overcome odds of 12/1 to complete the coup, but he did it comfortably with a three-length victory in the 8.30 to trigger the celebrations in Wicklow. The lucky customer walked off with a cool €8,086.27 from their total stake of €9.50.
