World’s Craziest Pitch-Invaders!

While the pitch invader during Spurs win over West Ham was fully clothed, he’s the latest in a long line of fans who’ve secured fifteen seconds of fame for getting on the field of play.

On Sunday afternoon, the creepiest of pitch-invaders stalked Sergio Aguero after the final whistle looking for his jersey, refusing to let go of the Argentinian striker.

With that in mind, we look at some other infamous pitch invaders and streakers:

Blackburn v Coventry 2009:
This brave lad lasted longer on the pitch than many of Rovers’ dud signings did during that era. He delightedly danced across the pitch before being apprehended by stewards, all to the chorus of “you fat bastard” from amused fans.

Aston Villa v Manchester City, 2012:
The Premier League cameras shielded its viewers from this streaker, but fans caught the nimble invader, who gloriously evaded stewards before being finally rugby-tackled to the ground. His capture led to ironic boos from the crowd followed by chants of “sign him up”.

Germany v Argentina 2014:
This Russian streaker chose the most high-profile game in football to make his mark, invading the pitch during this year’s World Cup final. It transpired he was a Russian comedian called Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, who had scrawled “Natural Born Prankster” across his chest. TV cameras shied away from the Russian but he tried to kiss German defender Benedikt Howedes, before being finally apprehended by security. He’d already been caught trying to grab the World Cup trophy before the match, yet somehow was able to sneak back on.

Dorchester Town v Havant and Waterlooville 2011
A particularly odd thing happened in a match between Dorchester Town and Havant and Waterlooville in 2011. Dorchester’s Player-Manager brutally took down the streaker – who looked like Marouane Fellaini in a mankini – before being red carded by the referee for violent conduct.

Mark Roberts
While, unfortunately, no video footage seems to exist of it the self-proclaimed “world’s best streaker” Mark Roberts scored a cracking goal against Chelsea in 2000. He also scored during a Champions League final and invaded other sporting events like the Superbowl and Royal Ascot but this one was special. Roberts dribbled the entire length of the pitch, past bemused Chelsea players, before smashing the ball past keeper Ed De Goey, who made a half-hearted attempt to save it.
