The 44th Ryder Cup is due to be held in Italy starting Next Friday 29^th of September to 1 October 2023 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

The biennial event was originally scheduled for 2022 before the 43rd Ryder Cup was postponed into 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The United States are coming into the event as defending champions after their 19–9 victory over Europe in 2021 at Whistling Straits.

Rory McIlroy –  8/1

The World Number 2 is co-favourite to be the top points-scorer at the 2023 Ryder Cup currently available at 8/1. Following the last Ryder Cup in 2021 Mcllroy was reduced to tears afterwards feeling he had left his teammates down at the event and so he will want to right a few wrongs and put up a strong points tally at this event for Europe.

While Mcllroy hasn’t won a major in a decade, he is still a regular winner on the tour topping the field twice this season most recently at the Scottish Open in July where two closing birdies earned him a stroke victory over his teammate at this event Robert MacIntyre.

That victory made it a ten-event run of form at the end of the PGA Season finishing in the Top-ten, five Top-five finishes and a T6 at The Open Championship.

His record at the event at the Ryder Cup is quite even with 12 wins, 12 losses and 4 ties, but with his vein of form, he has the potential to run riot in the event.

Scottie Scheffler – 8/1

The World Number (1) is the co-favourite to be the top points-scorer at the 2023 Ryder Cup currently available at 8/1. Scottie made his rookie appearance at the Ryder Cup back in 2021 but comes to this event as a much more established player on the tour.

Scheffler has had a phenomenal 2023 season and he started it quickly winning two of his first six events with the most recent of those victories being at The Players Championship. Following that victory in his next ten events, he didn’t finish below T11 showing serious consistency including eight events in the top-five.

However, in a reverse of McIlroy’s current form, he has finished out the top twenty in two of his last four tournaments.

Jon Rahm – 10/1

The World Number (3) is the third favourite to be the top points-scorer at the 2023 Ryder Cup currently available at 10/1. Rahm’s performance was one of the few bright points for the European team in their 2021 defeat going 3-1-1, his full Ryder Cup record ever is a not-too-shabby four wins, three losses and one tie.

Rahm is coming into the tournament in average form though, in the first half of 2023 he had a brilliant strike rate of four victories including another Masters title, however, in the preceding six-month period he didn’t win a single event with the best performance being a T2 at The Open.

If Rahm can find his hot-hand record from the first six months of the season he will be borderline unstoppable.

Patrick Cantley –  11/1

World Number (5) and Ryder Cup tag-team specialist is the next most likely to be the top-points scorer by our oddsmakers and can currently be gotten at 11/1. Cantley accompanied by teammate Schauffele have a 2-0 record when paired up at their sole Ryder Cup together.

Cantley has been consistent yet unremarkable this season, from his twenty-one events his best finish was Runner-up on two occasions. He placed in the Top-ten on ten occasions, 16 top twenty-five finishes and nineteen cuts made.

That being said, he is a nine-time PGA Tour winner and his record at this event speaks for itself.

Viktor Hovland – 11/1

The World Number (4) is another golfer fancied by our oddsmakers to make a splash at the tournament this time for Europe and can be currently gotten at 11/1 to be the top points scorer. Viktor was one of the rookies at the previous Ryder Cup but comes into this with a far bigger profile.

He’s been in brilliant form in 2023 from his twenty-three events entered he has three victories, one runners-up finish, nine top tens, eighteen top twenty-five finishes and has only missed the cut on two occasions.

Hovland has won two of his last two tournaments, the BMW Championship back in August coming two shots clear of Scottie Scheffler, that was followed by a victory at the Tour Championship where he finished five clear of second-placed Schauffele.

Hovland still has something to prove in the Ryder Cup after going  0-3-2 during his debut in 2021.

Best Bet – Brooks Koepka -12/1

The LIV Golf Rebel is my best bet at 12/1 to be the top points scorer at the 2023 Ryder Cup. Coming into the tournament he has a career record of 6-5-1 and has never lost a singles match (2-0-1)  at the event. Koepka is a fiery character and is not afraid to speak his mind, making him box-office entertainment on and off the golf course!

Koepka comes into the tournament in good form having won his third PGA Championship victory and fifth Major title earlier this year at Oak Hill Country Club becoming just the third player to win three or more PGA Championships since it became a stroke play event in 1958.

Even more impressively, that victory alongside a T2 finish at the 2023 Masters tournament means that Keopka has finished either first or second in nine of his last 24 major starts. With that sort of consistency, he is a major contender to be the top points scorer.

Others Contenders

Elsewhere Schauffele is 11/1, Fleetwood is 14/1 and Speith is 20/1 who could all be three to watch out for at this event.
