Ireland Eurovision Entry ‘Maps’ Backed Ahead Of Friday Reveal

Lesley Roy is already being backed to star at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam as Ireland’s new entry hits the airwaves on Friday.

The singer was due to represent the Irish at the 2020 Eurovision with ‘Story Of My Life’ but was denied the chance when the event was cancelled.

It was confirmed in December that the Balbriggan woman would return to fly the flag this year and fans are already buzzing ahead of the premiere of ‘Maps’.

The new song, written by Roy herself, has been produced with the help of three Swedish songwriters.

We have already trimmed the odds of Ireland winning the contest for an eighth time into 33/1 from 40/1,

…which would put them two clear of Sweden in the all-time records.

Iceland, who were favourites before last year’s event fell victim to the pandemic, are the front runners yet again at 6/1 although their new entry will not be revealed until next month.
