Owen McKenna’s star remains the only unbeaten runner left in the competition after an action-packed semi-final heat put pay to the chances of previous favourite Coolavanny Hoffa.

Callaway Pro Am was originally backed into 9/4 from 7/1 with the sponsors to provide his trainer with a third BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby title, but he has been trimmed further to 2/1, making him clear favourite in the betting ahead of 7/2 shots Crafty Kokoro, Ballymac Finn and Born Warrior.

Maries Wedding (8/1) and Droopys Nice One (33/1) are the outsiders from traps three and six respectively as they join Crafty Kokoro in a bid to crown the second female winner in successive years.

The chances of the 28.99 track record being smashed in the final have also been clipped into 16/1 from 20/1.

COULD A FEMALE WIN THE IRISH GREYHOUND DERBY FINAL ON SATURDAY?

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Callaway Pro Am was backed at 66/1 at one stage and wouldn’t be our best result going in as the 2/1 favourite, but he’s the one they all have to beat according to trends this week.

Crafty Kokoro has been a popular each-way pick throughout and wouldn’t be a good result either because he was backed at some huge prices before the off, so it’s up for grabs really and we’re looking forward to a fascinating contest.”
