Outright Betting

There is a tight four-way tussle for favouritism ahead of the BoyleSports Irish Grand National after weights for this year’s renewal were revealed earlier this week.

Recent Cheltenham winner Galvin is one of the quartet leading the betting at 10/1 with the race sponsors having landed the National Hunt Challenge Cup following his move to Ian Ferguson’s yard, and is joined by Latest Exhibition, Longhouse Poet and Thyestes runner-up Run Wild Fred.

Thyestes winner Coko Beach also features prominently in the early betting at 12/1 in the same Gigginstown House Stud colours as the Gowran Park runner-up in January.

Agusta Gold, who recently made the switch from Mags to Willie Mullins, is one of the early movers at 14/1 from 20/1,

…while Peter Fahey’s The Big Dog is also 14/1 from 20/1 having won a 3m4f Grand National trial at Punchestown in February.

The prospect of dual-Aintree Grand National winner Tiger Roll lining up in the Easter Monday showpiece has seen his odds nibbled into 12/1 from 14/1 following an eye-catching return to form in Cheltenham’s Cross Country chase.
