Mikel Arteta deserves plaudits for the job he has done since becoming Arsenal job back in 2019 bringing the side from a fifth finish in 21/22 to a second-place finish and a title challenge for much of the 22/23 season.

A new-season beckons though and in the off-season Arsenal have gone big with their recruitment spending roughly £208.6 million (excluding undisclosed figures) on Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice. They will want to set down a marker on Sunday for the coming season.
Manchester City’s Form
City ended last season in exceptional form and looks like a force to be reckoned with for some time to come with no signs of them letting up! City stormed past Arsenal in the Premier League title race and made light work of Manchester United in the FA Cup before completing the historic treble by winning the Champions League Final against Inter Milan.
They looked completely unstoppable in the latter stages of 2022-23 and will be looking to set down their crusade on football again on Sunday. In Pre-Season they had two wins against Yokohama F Marinos 3-5 and Bayern Munch 1-2 before losing to Athletico Madrid 1-2. But there will be little cause for concern from Guardiola and Co.
Their squad is as strong as ever and despite the loss of Gundogan on a free transfer to Barcelona, but he was aptly replaced with their signing of Kovačić from Chelsea and with the likes of De Bruyne, Haaland and co remaining they will obviously be major players again.

The season curtain-raiser, a nothing came in one sense, but on the other hand, neither team will want to lose early season bragging rights. I think Arsenal will be going into this one more focused but I can still see City winning with Haaland likely to score. There could be lots of goals though!
