The odds on Baaeed ending his stellar career with a victory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe shortened significantly on Sunday after trainer William Haggas raised the possibility of a Paris swansong.

The unbeaten superstar made it a perfect ten at York earlier this month when romping home by 6½ lengths in the Juddmonte International in his first start over a mile and was immediately backed into odds-on to extend his stunning winning run by bowing out at Ascot.
The chances of an 11th successive victory coming in the Champion Stakes in October were eventually cut into 1/3 from 11/10 following the York outing as Haggas indicated originally that would be the target for Baaeed’s finale.

But the trainer has admitted there is now a “strong chance” that he’ll line up in the Arc if the ground is suitable and he was originally cut into 7/2 from 5/1 for the Longchamp spectacle on October 2nd. That has now shortened further into 7/4, giving him a healthy lead over 6/1 Alpinista in the antepost betting.
