Battle Of The Irish As De Bromhead & Mullins Head Newbury Trophy Chase

The Irish will have a strong hand in the Newbury Trophy Chase this Saturday with Willie Mullins and Henry De Bromhead battling for favouritism to win the Grade Three contest.

Ontheropes is 9/2 to bring another Trophy Chase title home to Closutton with this Willie Mullins trained 7-year-old winning his seasonal debut last month over 3m at Limerick after 316 days off the track.

Before his 2¼ length win over A Wave Of The Sea, this son of Presenting was last seen at Fairyhouse in November 2020 where he was just two lengths behind the excellent Monkfish.

Henry De Bromhead trains the other 9/2 joint favourite Eklat De Rire with Rachael Blackmore heading over for the spin on this 7-year-old who also won his seasonal debut last month at Wexford beating Conflated by 4½ lengths.

Willie Mullins has already won this title with Total Recall back in 2017 and saddles Annamix (20/1) and Brahma Bull (25/1).
