Best Ever Deadline Day Moments!

After a lacklustre transfer window so far, deadline day is upon us again and is sure to throw up some memorable moments.

We take a look at some of the best ever deadline day moments.

Purple Reign
Probably the main reason for Sky’s ban on fans appearing with their reporters, Alan Irvine was famously given an earful on deadline day a couple of years back by an Everton fan brandishing a purple dildo. Irwin got a strop on, and the incident led Sky bosses to think long and hard about the wisdom of allowing their reporters mingle with over-excited fans.

Let’s Be Havin’ Ya
When Norwich City owner Delia Smith famously implored fans to “let’s be havin’ ya”, she probably didn’t mean it this literally. A couple of Canaries fans got over-zealous at the news of Gary Hooper’s imminent arrival at the club during one late-night deadline day report. After their simulated sex act, the reporter went on to announce that Chris Hughton had been “watching the Norwich City youngsters here at the stadium behind me”. Hadn’t we all.

A stunned Villa
Aston Villa weren’t exactly great at scoring last season so it’s no surprise one fan resorted to wielding a blow-up doll during a report from Villa Park. Despite Jim White’s apologies, the best bit is probably Neil Lennon and Rene Meulensteen trying to keep a straight face.

The Eagles Have Landed
While most of the young fans hanging around grounds on deadline day will do anything to get on the telly, others like this second Crystal Palace fan are content to play it cool.

“Harry…Harry…Harry…”
Harry Redknapp winding down his Range Rover window for a quick chat was synonymous with deadline day but sometimes he doesn’t oblige. Like on this occasion, which led to a wonderful Alan Partridge moment from the Sky reporter.
