Boris Johnson’s Deal Odds-On To Be Rejected By Parliament

A betting frenzy in the wake of a deal between the United Kingdom and European Union on Thursday suggests that Brexit still won’t happen before the deadline at the end of the month.

News of a breakthrough broke on Thursday, with Boris Johnson claiming he has secured a deal that ‘takes back control’ and allows the UK to ‘strike trade deals all around the world.’

Crucially however he has not got the support of the DUP, leaving his chances of getting the deal ratified by Parliament ahead of a crucial vote on Saturday up in the air.

With Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish Nationalists all set to vote against it,

we are offering outside odds of 7/4 that a majority in the House of Commons back the deal, while it’s an odds-on shot at 2/5 that it is voted down.

It’s now 9/4 from 7/2 that Brexit goes ahead on or before the October 31st deadline, but with Saturday’s vote looking such a close call, it’s still rated an odds-on prospect at 3/10 that the deadline passes without Brexit going ahead.
