Brentford v Man City Odds

Brentford are 16/5 to win their final home match of the season against Champions Man City and 3% of bettors are favouring this outcome.

Man City have been installed as 8/11 favourites despite the possibility of a heavily rotated side in advance of their two finals, last weekend their “B-Team” beat Chelsea 1-0 and 91% of bettors are expecting them to be good enough to beat Brentford on the final day.

4% of bettors are favouring a draw in this game.

The Form – Brentford v Man City

Brentford’s Form

Brentford have had an excellent season this year, they are currently in ninth position on 56 points after 37 games played.

Brentford are only one point behind Tottenham and two behind Aston Villa and so if they can pull off an unlikely final-day victory and results go their way they will earn a Europa Conference League place for next season.

In their last five matches, they have four victories dispatching Tottenham 1-3, West Ham 2-0, Nottingham Forest 2-1 and Chelsea 0-2 their only dropped points came in a narrow 1-0 defeat against Liverpool.

Whatever happens at the weekend Brentford can’t finish below 9th in what has been a fantastic season.

Man City’s Form

Man City come into this fixture on course for a historic treble, they have booked their FA Cup Final place against Man United in Wembley on June 3rd following a run to the final where they have scored seventeen goals across their five matches, conceding none in the process.

They also demolished Real Madrid in Manchester beating them in their Champions League Semi-Final second leg to book their place in the Final against Inter Milan, the chance to win their first-ever Champions League trophy.

They could have even won the EFL Cup had it not been their 2-0 elimination at the hands of Southampton back in January!

In the Premier League, their eleven-match winning run ended against Brighton mid-week in their 1-1 which was the first time they had dropped points in the league since their draw to Nottingham Forrest on February 18th. Their last defeat came against Tottenham 1-0 on February 5th They are now one victory away from their third Premier League in a row and the first step in a potentially historic treble.

Brentford v Man City Preview

Brentford’s Attack

Brentford boasst the seventh-best attack this season with 57 goals scoring an average of 1.54 goals per match in their 37 matches. Brentford is a dangerous side that likes to play on the counter-attack through balls and crosses. They are also capable at set pieces.

Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo is my man to watch at the weekend this season, he has played in every one of their Premier League matches and has scored 9 goals and has 7 assists. His pace and trickery will cause Man City problems, especially if it is a heavily rotated Man City side.

Man City’s Defence

Man City’s defence has conceded 31 goals this season an average of 0.88 goals per match which is the best defence in the division. This is very much because an attack is the best form of defence for Guardiola’s side and being dominant in possession means they give up very few chances.

In their last five league matches they have only conceded 2 goals which is an average of only 0.4 goals per match suggesting their defensive unit is only getting stronger as the season reaches its climax.

Man City’s Attack

Man City have the best attack in the Premier League this season with a staggering 94 goals in 37 games which is an average of 2.54 goals per match. This attack is led by the freak of nature that is Erling Haaland, who has scored a staggering 36 goals and contributed 8 assists in his 35 league matches.

Haaland, De Bruyne and co are likely to be rested at the weekend though or at the very least will receive reduced minutes as Guardiola looks to ensure there is no key injuries before their finals. That being said, a rotated Man City with the likes of Alvarez and Mahrez won’t exactly lack firepower either.

Brentford’s Defence

Brentford’s defence has conceded 46 goals this season an average of 1.24 goals per match which is good enough to be the joint seventh-best defence in the league. Brentford are generally strong in the air but leaves themselves open at the back, particularly from long shots.

Brentford v Man City Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Brentford 1-3 Man City

This is a dead rubber for Man City, with the Premier League title secured and an FA Cup Final and Champions League Final to come in the next two weeks, you can expect to see a heavily rotated side at the weekend.

That being said a “rotated” Man City side is arguably better than most if not all other teams anyway as witnessed last weekend when they strolled to a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Brentford still have an outside chance of securing a Europa Conference League spot after another outstanding season and have scored in four out of their last five matches.

Man City should have far too much for them even if Brentford might score though.

Best Bet: Both Teams To Score And Match Result Manchester City @ 11/5
