Brighton vs Newcastle – Prediction, Preview & Odds –

We have a Brighton vs. Newcastle prediction and preview plus betting odds for you ahead of Saturday evening’s massive Premier League clash.Brighton will be disappointed with their 1-3 defeat to West Ham last weekend, but three games into the season they still have six points, occupying sixth on the table despite their defeat to West Ham it promises to be another exciting season for The Seagulls.

Newcastle started their Premier League season with a flying 5-1 victory over Aston Villa which was seen by plenty as a pre-cursor for their season ahead. However, following a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City and a 1-2 defeat to Liverpool (where they collapsed) question marks are shockingly already being asked about Eddie Howe’s managerial credentials!

Preview–Brighton vs Newcastle

Brighton’s Form

Brighton is a club on the up, last season they had a phenomenal season shocking plenty with not only their performances but the consistency, They would finish the season in a more than respectable sixth place finish, alongside a Semi-Final FA Cup finish. They were always going to be a club to watch this season.

Following their performances, they were expected to be gutted in the off-season for some of their prized assets and gutted they were Alexis Mac Allister signed for Liverpool on an undisclosed fee, Moisés Caicedo has gone to Chelsea for £100,000,000 and keeper Robert Sanchez also to Chelsea for £25,000,000. But they have plenty of assets still at the club and they’ve continued with their excellent recruitment bringing in the likes of Joaoa Pedro from Watford, Mahmoud Dahoud from Dortmund and Milner from Liverpool.

Pre-Season wasn’t great for the club with two defeats (Chelsea and Newcastle), one draw (Rayo Vallecano) and one win against Brentford. However, they started the season flying with a 4-1 victory against Luton and 1-4 against Wolves. They were disappointing last weekend with a 1-3 defeat against an in-form West Ham but there will be little cause for concern in what promises to be another exciting season at the club.

Newcastle

Newcastle came into the season on an upward trajectory, qualifying for the Champions League under Eddie Howe qualification taking them from 11th place in the previous to an impressive fourth-place finish last season.

Their pre-season went well also with them earning five wins, two draws and zero defeats. Their wins game 2-3 against Gateshead, 1-2 against Rangers, 1-2 against Brighton, 2-0 against Florentina and 4-0 against Villareal while their draws came in a 3-3 against Aston Villa and 1-1 against Chelsea.

Newcastle in their opening games of the season demolished Aston Villa 5-1  with goals from Sandro Tonali, and a double from Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson and Harvey Barnes. They scored those goals from an XG of 3.3 and conceded an XG of 1.8. However, since that victory things haven’t gone to plan for the Toon Army.  That victory was followed by a narrow defeat to Manchester City 1-0 despite only restricting them to an XG of 1 goal although they only created an XG of 0.3 themselves.

Last weekend was disappointing though, despite them being 1-0 up by the 81st minute against Liverpool and up an extra man, a late double from Nunez meant they lost for their second successive game and people are already beginning to question Eddie Howe’s credentials as a manager.

Brighton vs. Newcastle Prediction

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle

This is an extremely difficult match to call, both had flying starts to the season and look to be clubs on an upward trajectory. However, both clubs had disappointing results/performances last weekend so this really could go either way.

The draw is great value at 11/4 though and I think that is what we’re going to get.

Best Bet:  Draw 11/4
