Can Peter Wright Follow Up PDC Title With Premier League Glory?

Peter Wright captured his first PDC World Championship title with a superb 7-3 win over 2019 champion Michael van Gerwen at Alexandra Palace on Wednesday night.

The 49-year-old lost 7-4 to Van Gerwen in the 2014 final and had previously lost 10 of his 11 major finals but the Scotsman opened a 2-0 lead and van Gerwen was unable to produce a comeback.

We have now trimmed Wright into the 6/1 joint second favourite from 8/1 for the 2020 Premier League that kicks off next month.

Wright was runner-up in the Premier League to MvG back in 2017 after a thrilling battle that resulted in a 11-10 victory to the Dutch man. The reigning champion Michael van Gerwen is the 5/6 favourite while last year’s runner-up Rob Cross is 12/1. The BoyleSports Grand Slam winner Gerwyn Price is the 6/1 joint second favourite alongside Peter Wright.

Fallon Sherrock has been confirmed as one of the nine challengers who will feature in the 2020 Premier League. Fallon became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Championship, before beating Mensur Suljovic on her way to the third round.

She has been rewarded for her performances at Ally Pally with a spot on the second night of the Premier League in Nottingham on February 13th.
