1.30 Turners Novices’ Chase

It’s a fascinating race, but so disappointing – I never thought in my life I’d see only four runners in a Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham.

I’m going to go for Bob Olinger. I think over this trip he may have more gears than Galopin Des Champs.

It’s going to be very straightforward tactically – Galopin Des Champs is going to jump out and make the running, Bob Olinger will follow and I think he just has more pace.

2.50 Ryanair Chase

Along with Honeysuckle, Allaho is probably one of the Irish bankers of the week. Conflated was very impressive in the Irish Gold Cup. He’ll need to settle, but Davy Russell gets on very well with him. He is a big danger, but I still think Allaho will go on and win.

3.30 Stayers’ Hurdle

The big worry for me about Flooring Porter is the crowd. There are 70,000 people here on St Patrick’s Day, there will be a huge atmosphere and that is a slight concern for me as he’s very temperamental. I have the same concern over Klassical Dream – he gets very highly strung as well and you’re not going to back Paisley Park until he jumps off with the rest of them.

I’ve changed my mind on the Stayers’ Hurdle a few times, but I think Champ is the most reliable bet in the race now. Thyme Hill is also a consistent horse, but the slight preference is for Champ.

4.50 Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle

I ride Say Goodbye and I think she has a massive each-way chance – for someone who wants a small each-way bet I think she’ll give you a good run for your money. She’ll love the ground, she’s only got a length and a quarter to find on Party Central off level weights in Leopardstown.

The most likely winner of the race though is Brandy Love. She was very good at Naas, but didn’t like going right-handed at Fairyhouse. Going left-handed here, she’ll be very hard to beat.
