Cheltenham Gold Cup 2024 Favourites

Galopin Des Champs – 6/4

The W-P Mullins trained Superstar Galopin Des Champs was the 2023 Gold Cup winner as he stormed to victory to win a dramatic Cheltenham Gold Cup from Bravemansgame. It came down to a tit-for-tat battle with Galopin Des Champs eventually coming out on top up the hill to win by seven lengths. Following the race jockey Paul Townend told ITV Racing

“It wasn’t plain sailing that is for sure. Everywhere I went I was running into trouble. But this is a proper, proper horse because he ran three different races and still won a Gold Cup. I was delighted to see it all going on in front of me. It gave me a chance to fill him up after making up a lot of ground. This race is just different. It brings winning to a different level.”

Our horse racing experts are backing a Cheltenham Gold Cup return in 2024 and for that to cumulate in another success for the horse. You can back Galopin Des Champs to be Cheltenham Gold Cup champion at 6/4 odds.

Bravemansgame – 8/1

The Paul Nicholls-trained horse lost out on the hill in the 2023 Gold Cup to come second to winner Galopin Des Champs after losing out on the hill. The pair battled hard in combat over the last of the 22 fences, but it was the 7-5 favourite, a year younger at seven, who prevailed.

Following the race, the team were beaming with pride for their horse’s performances jockey Harry Cobden said, “He’s run an absolute blinder, but he’s just been beaten by a very good horse.” Trainer Nicholls when speaking about the jockey said, “He couldn’t have done more and got a great ride by Harry” and vowed to bring the horse back for another crack next year “He’ll be back next year when he’ll be another year stronger, and we’ll have another go.”

If you fancy Bravemansgame to cross the finish line first in the 2024 Cheltenham Gold Cup, then you can find odds of 8/1.

L’Homme Presse- 16/1

It was announced three weeks ago that last year’s Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase winner will not run again this season. It’s been a disappointing year for the team of the eight-year-old who had been a 6/1 shot for 2023, however, he was ruled out in January after veterinary checks following his King George run revealed a few issues.

The dual Grade 1-winning chaser will be hoping to finally get its chance of success at the 2024 Gold Cup. Trainer Venetia Williams has said: “L’Homme Presse is fine but we’re not going to bring him back into training this season and will focus on next season with him”. L’Homme Presse is currently 16/1 to land the 2024 Gold Cup

Gerri Colombe – 16/1

The Gordan Elliot-trained seven-year-old entered Cheltenham 2023 as a 6/4 favourite for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase champion a victory which would have made it eight wins in a row. Before Cheltenham 2023 the horse had a cumulative margin of victory of 46.95 lengths.

However, it was not to be for the horse as it lost out in a thriller of a finish for The Real Whacker to beat Gerri Colombe as Sam Twiston-Davies somehow just kept finding more on The Real Whacker. Gerri Colombe is a 16/1 shot to step up to the Gold Cup Challenge in 2024 and win in Cheltenham.

Shishkin – 16/1

The nine-year-old, Nicky Henderson trained horse entered Cheltenham 2023 as the red-hot 4/6 favourite for the Ryanair Chase. However, Shishkin would lose out to the team of Envoi Allen and Rachael Blackmore after Shishkin made several errors, including a shuddering blunder at the third last, putting the favourite on the back foot.

Envoi Allen rallied well under Blackmore to run out a winner by just under three lengths with Shishkin staying on for second. Shishkin is 16/1 to win the Gold Cup in 2024

The Real Whacker – 16/1

The seven-year-old trained by Patrick Neville won the 2023 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase beating Gerri Colombe as Sam Twiston-Davies somehow just kept finding more on The Real Whacker to land the prize.

The team may fancy their chances at another Cheltenham success next season and The Real Whacker is currently 16/1 to win the 2024 Gold Cup.

Constitution Hill – 16/1

The 6-year-old Nicky Henderson trained gelding was an impressive winner of the 2023 Champion Hurdle cruising to victory at the event. Comfortable throughout, Nico de Boinville kicked for home with two fences to go and blew away the chasing pack with Irish hope State Man the closest challenger nine lengths back in second.

With that success, the horse became the shortest-priced Champion Hurdle winner in history at 4/11 “What a horse, just absolutely delighted,” said a buoyant de Boinville while Henderson called the horse “extraordinary”.

While this horse will be expected to return for the 2024 Champion Hurdle Constitution Hill can be gotten at 16/1 to win the Gold Cup and if he was put in the field he would not be without a chance.
