The horse’s most recent outing on track was at Kempton last December with the horse winning from the five-horse field coming 9.5 lengths ahead of runner-up Rubaud which was the horse’s first outing since winning at Aintree last April.

Constitution Hill was an impressive winner in the 2023 Champion Hurdle where he cruised to success.  Comfortable throughout, Nico de Boinville kicked for home with two fences to go and blew away the chasing pack with Irish hope State Man the closest challenger nine lengths back in second. Following the race jockey de Boiville said “What a horse, just absolutely delighted,” while Henderson called the horse “extraordinary”.

Verdict

Constitution Hill looks unbeatable right now and even at odds of 1/4, it’s hard to make the case of backing against him for the 2024 Champion Hurdle.

State Man

Odds

The second favourite to win the 2024 Champion Hurdle is State Man at odds of 5/2. Those odds suggest that State Man has a 28.6% chance of winning this race.

At Cheltenham Festival 2023, the horse was runner-up in the Champion Hurdle finishing nine lengths back of winner Constitution Hill.

Verdict

State Man was the bridesmaid to Constitution Hill last year and I think a repeat result could be on the cards again.

The horse again ran in the 2023 Champion Hurdle this time coming fifth and 32 lengths back of Constitution Hill

Verdict

A recent run suggests the horse still has class, but this race should be a step too far.
