Cork Punter The King Of Royal Ascot With Five Winners

Frankie Dettori made the headlines at Royal Ascot with a sensational four-timer on Thursday, but one County Cork punter is celebrating after going one better the following day.

The anonymous punter placed a €0.25 each-way Lucky 63 wager on their online BoyleSports account with a total stake of €31.50, picking a horse in each of the six races on the Friday card at Ascot. They were soon off to a flying start as favourites Daahyeh (4/1) and Japan (6/4) bolted up in the first two races.

Dettori himself made it three from three for the hopeful Rebel by steering Advertise to victory at 8/1 in the 3.40, and they then had a four-timer of their own when the 4.20 Coronation Stakes went the way of 20/1 outsider Watch Me.

Their next selection Desirous may have been beaten in the 5.00, but Baghdad held on to win the last race by the narrow margin of a short head, meaning five of the six selections had made the winners’ enclosure.

After €2,969.35 was added to the winnings thanks to three of the horses winning at larger odds than when they were picked, the lucky Cork punter was able to log back into their account and see their balance boosted by a jaw-dropping €7,607.85.

Frankie Dettori’s four wins may have grabbed the Royal Ascot headlines but one of our Cork customers deserves their own plaudits for picking out five stunning winners.

They’ve been well rewarded for their efforts and we congratulate them for such savvy picking.
