Former Grand National and Gold Cup winning jockey Davy Russell has seen his odds of lifting the Glitterball trophy on Dancing With The Stars slashed into 11/2 from 25/1 with BoyleSports after wowing the judges on last Sunday’s episode.

On Dedicated Dance week, each of the remaining eight celebs were tasked with dedicating their dance to someone special in their lives as Russell performed to Katy Perry’s Roar for his wife, Edelle. A score of 26 from the judges combined with the highest public vote ensured that the ex-jockey is guaranteed to avoid elimination next week and will move one step closer to the winners’ enclosure.

David Whelan has also been well supported by punters after recording the highest score of the series so far and is now the red-hot 5/4 favourite to win this year’s show. The Wild Youth singer claimed the first 10 of season seven and an overall score of 28 leaving him in pole position.

Galway girl Laura Fox is hot on Whelan’s heels at odds of 9/2 after a tearful dedication of a quickstep to her grandmother.

With Katja Mia (9/2), Blu Hydrangea (4/1) and Rosanna Davison (8/1) all lighting up the dancefloor on Sunday by scoring an impressive 26 apiece, the competition continues to heat up with just five weeks to go.

The highlight of last weekend’s show for many viewers was Rosanna Davison’s rumba to her father Chris de Burgh’s Lady in Red, which he performed live in the studio as Rosanna emerged as the latest contestant some viewers are tipping to go all the way.

Eileen Dunne (40/1) remained at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 17, but with no celebs going home last week, she continues to dance around elimination and is now joined by Jason Smyth (20/1) as the most likely stars to be sent packing on Sunday.
