England Lionesses 2022

England Lionesses Top 10 Players REVEALED Before Euro 2022 Final

The nation’s favourite England Lioness ahead of the Women’s Euro 2022 final vs Germany has been revealed since the start of the tournament.

A host nation team at the top of their game, thrilling matches and more media exposure than ever before. It’s safe to say the Women’s Euro 2022 has been an enormous success in July.

England have now reached the final and will face Germany this Sunday at Wembley Stadium.

But ahead of the weekend’s clash, which Lioness is the UK’s favourite?

BoyleSports used Google Trends to calculate which members of the England’s Women’s football team are the most popular, based on increases in Google searches from the start of the competition until now. Let’s find out below!

Top 10 Most Popular Lionesses

The data reveals that Mary Earps is the UK’s favourite Lioness, with the goalkeeper seeing an enormous 1011% increase in Google searches from July 6th until July 28th.

Earps, pictured below, is followed by Jess Carter with 977% and Leah Williamson with 669% increases.

The Women’s Euros has gone from strength to strength, and 2022 has been the most popular competition to date.

The previous record for attendance at the 2017 Euros has been smashed this year, with a whopping 250,000 spectators showing up to watch the group stage.

Negative comments from the past have been shot down by footballing icons like Ian Wright, himself a huge advocate of the women’s game.

Pundits hope the rising popularity inspires more young women to get into the sport, and provides more grassroots opportunities for girls who want to get into the game.

And who better to give their thoughts on an outstanding month than BoyleSports Football Ambassador Natalie Sawyer.

“If you haven’t been watching the Women’s Euros this summer, then you genuinely have been missing out,” says Natalie.

“The standard from the World Cup in 2019 has significantly improved with entertaining, open and attacking, end to end games.

“The Lionesses have endured it all, from tentative 1-0 wins to 8-0 hammerings, and now they are 90 minutes away from winning the European Championships.

“We have seen some wonderful moments, not just England’s Alessia Russo’s back-heel goal against Sweden but also from fans in the stands enjoying every single moment, celebrating the wins and commiserating the losses.

“England have every chance of winning, but beating Germany, who are the record holders for most Euro wins, will not be easy. Like England, Germany have conceded just one goal at these Championships and are looking dominant.

“But with the home crowd backing England, there is no better time for the Lionesses to win their first major title.

“If they do or don’t, this team has captured the hearts of many, and building on their legacy is a must to ensure we don’t fail the next generation of Williamson’s, White’s, Russo’s & Earps’.

“At this moment the future feels bright, and it’s all eyes on Wembley where if the Lionesses can take control of the game early, show their dynamism and killer instinct in front of goal – as let’s not forget in five games they’ve scored 20 goals – they will become legends.”
