Gerwyn Price Backed To Defend BoyleSports World Grand Prix Crown

Gerwyn Price is being well backed to win a second consecutive BoyleSports World Grand Prix darts title after the draw for this year’s renewal was completed on Monday morning.

The Welshman is now a stand-alone favourite for double-start event, which will be played at Leicester’s Morningside Arena and runs from October 3-9.

The number one seed goes into the event buoyed by an 8-0 whitewash of Mensur Suljovic in the final of the Gibraltar World Darts Trophy and we have now clipped Price into 4/1 favourite from 9/2, despite the world champion being handed a tricky first round assignment against Michael Smith.

Two former world champions Peter Wright and Rob Cross will face off in another eye-catching first round encounter, although Wright has been eased to 5/1 from 9/2 to go all the way having been placed in the same half of the draw as Michael Van Gerwen, who begins his bid to regain the title against compatriot Danny Noppert.

Van Gerwen is a 5/1 shot to be crowned BoyleSports World Grand Prix champion for a sixth time, while last year’s runner-up Dirk van Duijvenbode is rated at 33/1 to go one better ahead of his first round clash with Luke Humphries.
