Didi Hamann Playing With Liverpool BSI

Hamann: Tchouameni Would Be ‘Tremendous Signing’ For Liverpool

He’s one of the bright young stars of world football and there is speculation that he is being eyed up by Liverpool to take their team to the next level.

That young star is French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni who currently plays for Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past. Former Liverpool star Didi Hamann has given his verdict on the impact the signing of Tchouameni would have on this Liverpool team.

Hamann also weighed in on Liverpool’s recent transfer signings, where they should target in the January transfer window, the potential of Darwin Nunez and the early season success for the Reds.

Tchouaméni Would Be A ‘Tremendous Signing’ For Liverpool?

I think Tchouaméni would complete the missing link at Liverpool.

Mac Allister and Endo are playing in that position at the moment, and though Endo is able to play there and is a good player, a top-class number six is the only thing missing for Liverpool.

Alexis is doing really well, but I think he’d rather play a bit further forward. Tchouaméni and Camavinga are the benchmark for that position at the moment, and Tchouaméni would be a tremendous signing.

Liverpool’s January Transfer Window Needs

Centre-Back Only Area Liverpool Should Target

At the moment, I can’t think of too many areas where Liverpool need to strengthen.

Maybe it’s defence as Konate has had a few injuries and Matip is getting a bit old. Van Dijk is playing pretty well at the moment and Liverpool need to see if he remains consistent in his performances.

I would say Liverpool need a centre-back who’s also able to play full-back. Having said that, Liverpool also have Joe Gomez, who fits in perfectly.

Let’s hope he stays fit. If you pushed me, I’d say Liverpool need to strengthen in the centre-back department, but apart from that, they’re looking well-equipped.

Potential Centre-Back Targets

I can’t think of any right now, but if you bring someone in, they’ll be third or fourth-choice if Konate and Van Dijk stay fit. Those two have a formidable partnership.

I know they play a lot of games and you need backup, but it’s very hard to get a top-class centre-back if he knows he’s not playing.

That’s the tricky thing about buying players. Everybody wants to play, but I’m sure Liverpool already have targets in mind if they want to bring someone in. I can’t see any other positions being looked at.

Bundesliga Talents On Liverpool’s Radar

There are a lot of good players in the Bundesliga at the moment, like Xavi Simmons at RB Leipzig.

We’ve seen some very good players from the German league come to the Premier League, and they tend to be cheaper than signing other players already playing in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s Transfer Window Success

Liverpool had to get this transfer window right as a lot of players left, some for free! The club got quite a bit of money for Fabinho and Henderson, however.

I think the players Liverpool did sign were purchased without any fuss. People were worried, but Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, and Gravenberch are all terrific.

I think Liverpool really needed a player like Gravenberch as they seemed to lack a bit of muscle in the middle of the park. Ryan provides that and he can also score from outside of the box, head the ball, and has a knack for goal. It’s strange to see him hardly feature after 18 months in Germany.

Sky Is The Limit For Szoboszlai At Liverpool

I think Szoboszlai is capable of becoming a very good Liverpool player. He’s got a great engine and he has a very good shot on him.

I think he’ll score a few screamers, which fans are always open to! I think it’s very encouraging, and I’m very surprised to see how quickly he’s settled. The sky’s the limit.

Darwin Nunez Can Be Elite If He’s More Clinical

I think Darwin Nunez has all of the physical attributes to be a leading striker, but he needs to be more clinical.

He can score 20 or 25 goals in the league every season if he’s more clinical, and I back Darwin to score 20 or 25 goals this season.

Darwin Nunez is 66/1 to be the Premier League top scorer this season according to the latest football betting odds at BoyleSports.

Very Impressed With Liverpool’s Start To The Season

I’m mighty impressed with Liverpool this season.

I didn’t think they would hit the ground running because they played with a midfield who hadn’t played together before, and this is the area where games are won or lost. I thought it would take a bit of time for the players to fit in and gel, considering they’ve got players like Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch who have never played in England before.

I thought they’d finish top four, but it’s been a successful season. I’m very impressed.

Manchester City are the most likely winners, but if you asked me who their biggest challengers are, I’d say Liverpool.

They’re way ahead of Arsenal at the moment. They should beat Luton, and although Brentford are capable, I expect six points for Liverpool.
