Henderson Backed Into Second Favourite To Be Top Cheltenham Trainer

Nicky Henderson has seen his odds clipped to be the Top Trainer at Cheltenham for the first time since 2012 after a steady stream of support.

The Seven Barrows handler is now 2/1 joint second favourite alongside Gordon Elliott, who drifted from 13/8 as Henderson continued to receive the backing of punters a week ahead of the off.

Henderson looks set to go into the Festival with favourites in three of the four championship races as Buveur D’Air (2/5), Altior (4/6) and Might Bite (4/1) lead the betting for the Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Gold Cup respectively.

Willie Mullins remains Even money favourite to be leaving Prestbury Park with most winners for the fifth year out of six and saddles the current 5/4 favourite Getabird in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle to kick off day one.

Diese Des Bieffes in the Martin Pipe Hurdle and Rather Be in the Novice Handicap Chase…

were two of Nicky Henderson’s horses that saw significant money on Monday.

When put alongside favourites like Buveur D’Air, Altior and Might Bite, you can begin to see why he’s been so popular in the Top Trainer market with only Willie Mullins ahead of him now.
