Golden Spear 50kb

Irish Luck To Continue At Kempton

It’s not easy to go into the weekend action after four fabulous days at Cheltenham but an incredible week for Irish connections may not be over yet with one notable runner heading to Kempton.

Golden Ticket For Meyler
Tony Martin had no joy at the Festival but he does have Heartbreak City off to Dubai next weekend and prior to that Golden Spear can land the Silver Plate Handicap Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday afternoon.

The talented six-year-old has notable form on both the level and over hurdles and having opted not to go for the Imperial Cup at Sandown last week, this is another horse who has a higher handicap rating to defy but he looks capable of doing so.

Free Fall

At Leopardstown last time he was only beaten a length by Ice Cold Soul and Tudor City and for that effort he is running off a 7lbs higher mark here but Donagh Meyler’s 3lbs claim is very valuable and this can be another big pot for the Meath native.

Follow Luke at Limerick
Luke McGuinness is one of the latest amateur jockeys to turn professional and he can add to his tally for the season with a double at Limerick tomorrow.

In the three-mile handicap hurdle, McGuinness teams up with Eugene O’Sullivan on a filly called Gold Smoke.

She ran well in handicap company last time and with just 10st3lbs on her back can claim this low level contest.

In the concluding bumper McGuinness will again team up with Gordon Elliott and they should be able to claim another bumper winner with the Gigginstown-owned Hardline who brings some solid form to the table having been second to Getabird. Although a short priced favourite, Hardline may be one that can be doubled up.

Recommended Bets:
Golden Spear (9/2) – 2.40 Kempton
Gold Smoke (6/1) – 3.55 Limerick
Hardline – 5.05 Limerick
