Price Slash On Leopardstown Winner Galvin For Cheltenham Gold Cup

Galvin has made a big move up the antepost market for the Gold Cup at Cheltenham next year after landing the showpiece Savills Chase at Leopardstown on Tuesday.

Gordon Elliott’s charge rallied late on under Davy Russell to get the better of a thrilling finish and deny last year’s winner A Plus Tard by a short head, with Kemboy only a further ¾ of a length back in third.

The 7-year-old, who won the National Hunt Chase at the Festival earlier this year, has been slashed right into 5/1 from 16/1 for the Gold Cup in March,

…while antepost favourite A Plus Tard has been eased to 7/2 from 2/1.

Galopin Des Champs also caught the eye with a comprehensive victory on his chasing bow and is now a 9/4 favourite from 9/2 in the betting for the Festival Novices’ Chase.

Earlier on the Leopardstown card, Klassical Dream made all to see off a strong challenge from Flooring Porter in the Christmas Hurdle and is now a 3/1 favourite from 7/2 for the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham, while the runner-up has also been clipped into 6/1 from 8/1 in the same race.
