Common Bet Types & How To Play Online Roulette
Straight Up Number Bet
This is the most common and simple bet you will see in roulette. With a straight up number bet you are simply betting that the ball on the roulette wheel will land on the number that you pick.
I’m going to bet .50c on number ‘7’ below because it is my lucky number. To select any number just click/tap on that number on the roulette table.
Once you have selected your bet you will see four buttons appear on the bottom left of your screen.
‘Undo’ will reverse your last action, in this case it will take your chip off of the table.
‘Clear Bets’ will clear all bets from the table.
‘X2’ will double your stake.
‘Spin’ will spin the roulette wheel. Press this once you are ready to start the game! You will then be taken to the roulette wheel screen.
When you press spin the roulette wheel will spin and if the ball lands on the number you selected you will get a 35/1 payout. In my case this means that if the ball lands on the number ‘7’ then I will get a return of €18 from the €.50
This one is as straightforward as it sounds. You are betting on whether the ball will land on a red/black number with a payout of evens odds.
To make this bet simply tap/click on the red/black (whichever colour you think the ball will land on). See the below screenshot for the location of red/black on the roulette table.
Once you have selected your colour simply click/tap ‘Spin’ and the game will begin.
Remember that there is one green number on the roulette wheel! If the ball lands on the 0 then both red and black bets are losers.
The evens payout for both bets on red and black means that if you put €10 on your potential return is €20.
Betting on dozens is quite a common type of roulette bet. There are three dozens that you can bet on.
1st 12 – You are betting on the ball landing on any number from 1-12 inclusive.
2nd 12 – You are betting on the ball landing on any number from 13-24 inclusive.
3rd 12 – You are betting on the ball landing on any number from 25-36 inclusive.
See the image below for where the dozens betting is on the roulette table.
The payout for a dozens bet is 2/1.
An odd/ even bet in roulette is where you are betting on if the number that the ball lands on will be odd or even.
You can find the odd and even on the left side of the roulette table as highlighted in the below screenshot.
‘0’ is not considered odd or even so if the ball lands on ‘0’ then all odd/even bets are losers.
The payout for an odd/even bet is evens odds or 1/1.
A high/low bet is where you are betting on the winning number being between 1-18 (low) or 19-36 (high).
You will find these options on the far left of roulette table as shown below.
The payout for a high/low bet is evens odds or 1/1.
This is a bet on what column the winning number will be in out of the three columns on a roulette table.
Column 1 is the left column from 1 vertically down the table.
Column 2 is the middle column from 2 vertically down the table.
Column 3 is the right column from 3 vertically down the table.
To select a column click/tap on the relevant square at the bottom of the table as highlighted in the screenshot below.
The payout for column bets is 2/1.
Split bets is a bet on two numbers.
For example, if I think the winning number will be 7 or 10 I can put a split bet on both 7 & 10. To do this I simply tap/click on the line between the two numbers as you can see below.
If the ball lands on either 7 or 10 then my bet is a winner.
The payout on a split bet is 17/1.
This is similar to a split bet but instead of betting on two numbers I’m betting on the winning ball being one of four numbers.
For a corner bet all four numbers need to touch on the roulette table.
For example, I think the winning ball will be one of either 7, 8, 9 or 10 so I put on a corner bet with these numbers.
To select this corner I click/tap on the corner or middle point between four numbers as you can see below.
If either of 7, 8, 9 or 10 is the winning number then my bet is a winner.
The payout for a corner bet is 8/1.
Here you can find the payout structure for roulette bets along with an explanation of each type of bet.
