The defending county football champions went odds-on favourites in the Dublin Senior Football Championship after Shane Walsh made his debut in a 3-25 to 1-6 rout of Templeogue Synge Street.

Paul Mannion also hit 0-9 on his competitive return while new recruit Walsh contributed a point after coming on as 42nd minute substitute with the game already done and dusted.

The beaten All-Ireland finalists were then clipped into 8/13 from even money by BoyleSports for a third county title in five years ahead of a quarter-final date with Cuala next weekend.

Crokes’ hurlers, meanwhile, are 1/7 favourites as two unbeaten records go on the line when they face St Vincent’s for one of the automatic semi-final spots this weekend.

They are now joint favourites at 9/4 to be crowned Dublin Hurling champions alongside Cuala, who are marginal 4/5 favourites for their Saturday evening clash with Ballyboden St Enda’s at Parnell Park.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It’s no surprise that Kilmacud Crokes are being so well backed for the Dublin Football title given their form and the addition of Shane Walsh to the ranks.

That makes them 8/13 from even money favourites now to defend their crown, but support is only getting stronger for their hurlers too, so a double is on the cards if punters this week are on the money.”
