Kubrat Pulev promoter sends big Derek Chisora warning for 02 arena

Derek Chisora has been warned his boxing career will be over on Saturday night at the hands of Kubrat Pulev in London at the 02 arena.

That’s according to the Bulgarian’s promoter Ivaylo Gotsev, who has spoken to BoyleSports as the countdown to the weekend begins.

Chisora’s bout against the Eastern European, making his return to boxing, tops the fight card in the English capital.

Both fighters first met six years ago in 2016, when Pulev won the contest and earned the vacant European heavyweight title.

“This fight is not going the distance, that’s what we are training for,” said Gotsev.

“The winner has a great chance of challenging for a world title. We are going to send him home early and send Derek Chisora into retirement because what is Chisora going to do if he loses?

“It’s going to be a hard one to come back from. It’s a must win for both guys.”

Pulev was not at his physical best when he lost to British heavyweight Anthony Joshua either, insists Gotsev.

And that fight still went a very good distance, so Chisora has been warned – especially about the Bulgarian’s jab.

Pulev has odds of 2/5 to win, while Chisora is a little bigger at 7/4. The draw is 20/1.

“Chisora’s style will make the fight very exciting, he’ll keep coming, but he’ll play into Kubrat’s hands,” added Gotsev.

“Kubrat has an awesome jab and will keep Chisora at bay. But we’ve worked on some surprises. So don’t be surprised to see a brawl in the center of the ring.

“We are coming forward too. Kubrat has plenty in his artillery. Remember, against AJ, Kubrat was only at 40% of his physical conditioning having just come out of Covid with all the symptoms.

“And still went nine rounds against the world champion, so that was pretty unbelievable.

“This time all the stars have aligned and he’s in the best shape of his life. It’s winner takes all here and Kubrat wants to make a statement in London for the British fans against a very exciting and tough opponent.”
