League Of Ireland First Division Table

Here’s how the First Division table looks after Round Eighteen!

Wexford v Galway United

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? Ferrycarrig  Park, Wexford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Wexford are  6/1. Galway can be gotten at 1/3 while the draw is 15/4.

Preview

Wexford comes into this in decent form with one draw, two wins and two defeats in their last five matches their most recent result coming in a 1-1 away draw against Treaty last Friday Night which means they are currently in sixth place bang in mid-table two-points ahead of Treaty and 2-behind Bray.

A win on Friday could bring them up to fifth and potentially only one point behind Athlone who are currently third which shows how close the table is this season.

Galway have four wins and one draw in their last five matches with their most recent result coming in another on-field demolition job of another side this time dispatching Finn Harps 6-0 in Galway on Monday.

Despite being ten points clear at the top whispers from the Galway fans have stressed that they do not have the league wrapped up just yet. But 51 goals scored in their eighteen matches and just 8 conceded it is very hard to see even Waterford get near them.

Prediction

Wexford 0-3 Galway

Kerry v Athlone

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? Mounthawk Park, Tralee

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Kerry are 6/1, Athlone can be gotten at 4/11 while the draw is 7/2

Preview

Kerry had another disappointing humbling on Monday 0-6  this time at the hands of Munster rivals the vastly wealthy Waterford, however in their game previous they earned a respectable 0-0 draw away to Finn Harps.

With one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five they have shown themselves to be competitive (most of the time) this is a long-term project but there are signs that better days will come, and I reckon they could fancy themselves against Athlone who seems to be stuck in a never-ending constant chaos.

Athlone come into this match in good form with two wins in their last two matches a 1-0 victory against Longford in what has the most chaotic highlights package of all First Division games this season along with a 3-1 victory against Bray.

These two victories are good enough to put them second on the table (albeit thirteen points behind Waterford and twenty-three behind Galway respectively) and they will want to continue that good form again on Friday.

Prediction

Kerry 0-2 Athlone

Longford v Finn Harps

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where?  Bishopsgate, Longford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Longford are 20/21, Finn Harps are 5/2 while the draw is 23/10

Preview

Longford find themselves in eighth position, with three defeats, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches. It almost seems that they perform better when playing against sides they are not expected to compete with.

In their most recent showing, they lost to Cobh 1-0 in a game they would have been targeting as winnable. However, given the tight nature of the league a victory on Friday could bring them up to seventh and five points off Cobh who are currently fourth so their season is far from over just yet.

Finn Harps have an identical record to Longford in more than one sense, four wins, six draws and eight defeats this season they also have two three defeats, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches.

The only thing that separates them is despite having one goal more they are far less defensively solid conceding 37 goals to Longford’s 20. A win for Harps against Longford will have the same potential effect for them on the table.

Prediction

Longford 1-1 Finn Harps

Waterford v Bray

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? The Regional Sports Centre, Waterford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Waterford are 1/3, Bray can be gotten at 13/2 while the draw is 15/4

Preview

Waterford comes into this unbeaten in their last five league games with four wins and one draw since their 2-1 defeat to Galway back in May. On Monday they were in flying form again with a 7-0 win against Munster rivals Treaty. Waterford will be looking to continue their pressure on Galway at the top by winning the final match before the summer break.

Bray are having a decent season (compared to last season anyway) their twenty-five-point total from 18 matches is only two points less than their entire total from last season in 32 matches. On Monday their five-match unbeaten streak came to a close with a 3-1 loss to Athlone away but know a shock win against Waterford could bring them as high as third.

Prediction

Waterford 2-1 Bray

Treaty v Cobh Ramblers

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? The Markets Field, Limerick

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Treaty are 13/10, Cobh Ramblers are 7/4 while the draw is 15/4.

Preview

Treaty had a 1-1 draw at home on Monday which ended their run of three defeats on the spin for Tommy Barrett’s side. It’s been a topsy-turvy season for Treaty but still find themselves well in contention for another end-of-season play-off spot, victory on Friday in this Munster clash could bring them up to seventh but most importantly only three points behind Cobh who are currently fourth.

Cobh find themselves in fourth position following two draws, two defeats and only one victory in their last five league games.  However, the Rams returned to winnings ways on Monday with a 1-0 home win. Their twenty-six-point total after eighteen games is already nine points better off than they had the entirety of last season which is a testament to the job Shane Keegan is doing at the club.

There is also plenty of football being played this weekend in the League of Ireland Premier Division and we previewed the upcoming round of Premier Division action in a recent post.

Prediction

Waterford 2-0 Treaty
