Where? The Brandywell, Derry

How To Watch? RTÉ 2

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Derry City are 8/11, Bohemians can be gotten at 15/4 while the draw is 5/2.

Preview

Derry City are coming into this fixture out of sorts and out of form looking to end their run of three matches without a win following a 1-0 defeat in Sligo a 0-0 draw against Shelbourne and most disappointingly being humbled 4-1 in Dublin by St Patrick’s Athletic on Monday Night.

Derry are currently in second on 35-points four points behind Shamrock Rovers and only ahead of St Patrick’s Athletic on goal difference.

Bohemians are another side who have dropped off in form with two defeats, two draws and just one win in their last five league matches. On Monday they had a dramatic 2-1 defeat in Turners Cross against Cork City.

Their 87th-minute equaliser meant it seemed they had earned themselves a point with some of the Bohs supporters entering the pitch in celebration. However, as they were still on the pitch, Bohemians brought the ball back to the centre circle to go again, only for Cork City  to go down the pitch and immediately grab a dramatic winner through Krezic

Prediction

Derry City 2-1 Bohemians

Shamrock Rovers v UCD

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? Tallaght Stadium, Dublin

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Shamrock Rovers are 1/20, UCD are 33/1 while the draw is 11/1.

Preview

Shamrock Rovers have recovered from their defeats to Drogheda and Cork City to win two matches on the spin beating Dundalk at home 2-0 and beating Sligo Rovers in Sligo 0-3 on Monday which has allowed them to establish themselves a four-point lead at the top of the table.

As the league is set to enter their Summer Break before returning for the Dublin Derby on the 23rd of June they will want to enter that break with a big win against UCD and I would probably expect them to do just that.

UCD are bottom of the table with just the six points coming from their opening nineteen matches with their latest result a 4-1 defeat on Monday against Dundalk despite taking the lead in the seventh minute through Jake Doyle.

The Students seem destined to be automatically relegated this season with them fourteen points a drift of Drogheda and fifteen points behind Cork City, it will take another great UCD to escape to survive this season again. What better way to start that than a victory against the Champions for the last three season Shamrock Rovers.

Prediction

Shamrock Rovers 4-0 UCD

Drogheda v St Patrick’s Athletic

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? Weaver Park, Drogheda

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Drogheda are 12/5, St Patrick’s Athletic are EVS and the draw is 5/2.

Preview

Drogheda have followed up their two victories on a spin with two defeats on the spin to essentially cancel out their mini-renaissance in form.

They now find themselves second from bottom on the table with twenty points, one behind Cork City in eight and two-behind Sligo Rovers which they will be disappointed with considering their strong start to the season. However, given how close the league is a shock home win on Friday could put them only six points behind their Louth Rivals Dundalk who are sixth on 29 points.

St Patrick’s Athletic are the form side in the league at the moment with four wins and just one defeat in their last five matches (along with Cork City) after Jon Daly finally got a tune out of the Pat’s faithful which sees them fulfilling their expectations of a European qualification run again this season.

If they can win on Friday and the results go their way they could find themselves in second place only three points behind Shamrock Rovers during the summer break.

Prediction

Drogheda 0-3 St Patrick’s Athletic

Cork City v Dundalk

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June 9th

Where? Turners Cross, Cork

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Cork City are 17/10, Dundalk are 8/5 while the draw is 13/5.

Preview

Cork City are the other form side in the league (along with St Patrick’s Athletic) with four victories and one defeat in their last five league matches. In their most recent game on Monday came arguably one of the most dramatic moments of the season for any side in their victory against Bohemians. They squandered their lead in the 87th minute which meant it looked like they had dropped two points as the Bohs supporters entered the pitch in jubilation.

There was a twist in the tale however as Bohemians brought the ball back to the centre circle to go again, only for Cork City to go down the pitch and immediately grab a dramatic winner through Krezic. Victory on Friday could bring them up to seventh and only 5 points off Shelbourne in fifth place.

Dundalk last Friday Night ended their run of four matches without a win after coming from 1-0 behind against bottom-of-the-table UCD to record a comprehensive 4-1 victory in Oriel Park. That being said, the signs all season have been that things aren’t all right at the club, especially with rumours of potential investment or lack of investment into the club.

Last time against Cork City though they had a dramatic victory in Oriel Park and that might be exactly what they need again on Friday to bring some life back into their season.

Prediction

Cork City 2-0 Dundalk

Shelbourne v Sligo

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, June  9th

Where? Tolka Park, Dublin

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Shelbourne are 23/20, Sligo Rovers are 23/10 and the draw is 11/5.

Preview

Shelbourne have been ultra-consistent this season as they currently lie fifth in the table on 29-points with two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five league games and most recently had a 3-2 victory over Drogheda on Monday.

Their relative success this season under former Ireland International Damien Duff has been building off a defensively solid well-drilled side with their thirteen goals conceded the best defensive record in the division. If it was not for their blunt attack with nineteen goals scored (the joint third worst in the division) they would be even higher up the table. However, another victory on Friday could put them only one point behind Bohemians in fourth.

Sligo Rovers come into this match in dismal form their four defeats and one win record in their last five league matches is only worsened by UCD who have lost their last five. On Monday they were easily dispatched 0-3 at home to Shamrock Rovers which compounded the misery on the side especially with former player Johnny Kenny getting an assist. Sligo need a victory on Friday or risk falling down to nineth on the table.

Further east in Europe is the biggest club football match in the world as Man City and Inter Milan go head-to-head in the Champions League Final which we previewed in our Champions League Final Prediction post.

Prediction

Shelbourne 1-0 Sligo Rovers
