Cobh looks like a different prospect this season and could very well put themselves in the mix for a play-off place at the end of the season.
Their marked improvement this season is illustrated by the fact they have gone from coming bottom last season, when they only amassed seventeen points from thirty-two matches or 0.53 points per game, to ten points from their first four games this season averaging 2.5 points per game.
League Leaders Galway United come into the match in-perfect form winning four of their four games and are the Division top-scorers with thirteen goals coming into the game on the back of a 9-1 annihilation of league newcomers Kerry FC.
They have only conceded two goal so far this campaign. Expect Galway United to be a major contender for the title this season.
Prediction
I’m tipping Cobh Ramblers to pull off a minor shock at home continuing their good form and beating Galway United 2-0 to overtake them at the top of the table.

Wexford has been average this so far despite expectations from some quarters that they would be in contention for a play-off place. In their four matches, they have four points after two opening defeats they have gotten one win and one draw in their last two. In these
matches, they scored four goals and conceded five. They have improved recently and the Central Midfielder Aaron Robinson who has three goals and one assist in four games this season will be looking to continue his form. League of Ireland newcomers Kerry FC come into this fixture on the back of an 9-1 annihilation defeat away to Galway last weekend.
It will be interesting to see whether confidence will be fragile in the Kerry camp or was this just a freak result? In their other three outings they were competitive drawing 1-1 with Treaty United, losing 3-1 away to Bray and 2-0 at home to Cobh.
Prediction
Wexford should have too much about them for this Kerry side. But I expect Kerry to be more competitive, so I am going with a 2-1 victory for Wexford.

Athlone have gone from winning their opening two fixtures vs Longford and Finn Harps (both 3-1 victories) to defeats in their last two losing 3-0 away to Wexford and losing 1-0 at home to Waterford last time out.
Despite this, the mood in the camp will be good as they are currently 5th in the league four places above where they finished last season. The mood in the Treaty United camp on the other hand will be poor with only one point and one goal in their first four league matches.
This could be a sorrowful season for the Shannonsiders as the reality of amateur footballers competing in a semi-professional league could see them struggle.
Prediction
I cannot see past Athlone in this one but with Enda Curran in the Treaty ranks they may grab a consolation goal my prediction is a 3-1 win for Athlone.

Title Favourites Waterford come into this match-up in okay form in their opening four games winning two, drawing one and their one defeat coming at home to Galway losing out narrowly to one goal. But with talents like Aouachria in their ranks along with investment from EFL side Fleetwood, it shouldn’t be too long before they click into gear.
Bray Wanderers after a turbulent season on and off the field last year are unbeaten with two wins and two draws in their four games and look early value for a playoff spot this season.
Prediction
I expect Waterford to have too much quality for this resurgent Bray side and they should win the game comfortably 2-0.

Longford Town v Finn Harps

Longford has proven a tough nut to crack so far this season with three draws and just one defeat from their opening four games. They have the second-worst attack with only two goals scored but the fifth-best defence in the division with only four conceded.
Finn Harps lie just below them in the table following their relegation from last season’s Premier Division. With two draws and two defeats in their opening four games this will be a season of transition for Dave Rogers’ team.
Prediction
That aside I can see Finn Harps picking up their first win of the season in a tight 1-0 affair.
