League Of Ireland First Division Table

Here’s how the First Division table looks after Round Nineteen!

Bray v Kerry

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 23rd June

Where? Carlisle Grounds, Bray

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

Betting Odds

Bray are 1/6, Kerry can be gotten at 12/1 while the draw is 11/2.

Preview

Bray are four without a win with two defeats and two draws in their last four, they will welcome a match against Kerry and have it earmarked as a match which will help them ascend the table again.

Cole Omorehiomwan will be key for them despite being an excellent defensive Centre-Back he has a record which would match a lot of strikers with five goals in seventeen games and I wouldn’t be surprised if another clean sheet and goal combination is on the cards again on Friday.

Kerry have four defeats in their last five matches with their sole point coming in a 0-0 draw against Finn Harps back in early June.  They find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table with six points and twelve points off Longford, it is unlikely that they will move off that position for the rest of the season.

However, there are signs to be optimistic and with the completion of exams expect Kennedy Amechi to feature more prominently in the coming weeks.

Prediction

Bray 3-1 Kerry

Athlone Town v Treaty United

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, 23rd June

Where? Athlone Town Stadium, Athlone

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

Betting Odds

Athlone are 3/4, Treaty can be gotten at 3/1 while the draw is 13/5.

Preview

Athlone with three wins on the bounce after one defeat and one draw, this run has put them third on the table ahead of Cobh Ramblers in the second play-off spot ahead of them on goal difference and will be looking to make it four on the spin Friday.

However, I never fully can trust Athlone and their narrow 0-1 victory over Kerry last time out suggests to me that they will be dropping points again sooner rather than later.

Treaty have been in poor form with four defeats and one draw in their last five matches, that sole point coming in a 1-1 draw against Wexford but last time out they were only narrowly defeated by Cobh Ramblers at the Markets Field 0-1.

Things aren’t great right now but a win could bring them up to sixth on the table and put their season back on track and something is telling that could happen Friday.

Prediction

Athlone 0-2 Treaty

Galway v Longford

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, 23rd June

Where?  Eamonn Deasy Park, Galway

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

Betting Odds

Galway are 1/9, Longford can be gotten at 18/1 while the draw is 13/2

Preview

Galway have four wins and one draw in their last five league games, as they are a class above every other side in the Division with them already ten points clear of closest challengers Waterford in second place.

However, Galway may only have one defeat from their nineteen league matches but that defeat did come against Longford 1-0 back in May. I’d file another Longford victory under the unlikely column given the fact thirty-four points separate them on the table.

Longford lies in second last place with four defeats in their last five games their sole point came 0-0 against Waterford, they seemingly perform better against the teams higher up the table than those around them likely due to their defensively solid style.

In their last two defeats, they have only lost by one goal so are not being battered by any means, but I still think winning this won away from home will be beyond them.

Prediction

Galway 3-0 Longford

Cobh Ramblers v Waterford

When? 7.45 pm, Friday,  23rd June

Where? St Colman’s Park, Cobh, Cork.

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

Betting Odds

Cobh Ramblers are 13/2, Waterford are 1/3 while the draw is 7/2

Preview

Cobh have been in solid form of late with two wins, two draws and only one defeat, with them going for their third win on the spin on Friday Night. However, Waterford are a much tougher test for Shane Keegan’s side with them thirteen points behind them in the league. But never say never and a victory could bring them up to third as they got it for tat on the table with Athlone.

Waterford comes into this match in excellent form with four wins and a draw in their last five including a 3-1 job against Bray before the season break. Waterford are comfortably ahead of the teams below them with the gap between them and those below them greater than their gap to Galway which means they aren’t out of the title race just yet albeit unlikely…

Prediction

Cobh 1-3 Waterford

Finn Harps v Wexford

When? 8.00 pm, Friday, 23rd June

Where?  B8allybofey, Donegal

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

Betting Odds

Finn Harps are 17/10, Wexford can be gotten at 11/8 while the draw is 23/10.

Preview

Finn Harps a team which we have noted on numerous occasions are in transition this season, form has begun to pick up further recently with two wins, one draw and only two defeats in their last five. In their most recent match, they beat Longford in a 2-3 thriller and know another victory could bring them up the table again to sixth.

Wexford comes into this match with a record of two defeats, one draw and two wins in their last five with their last two matches being a 0-2 defeat against Galway along with a 1-1 draw against Treaty. Wexford have been inconsistent this season but a win could bring them up to fifth on the table and well in the playoff mix.

Prediction

Finn Harps 2-1 Wexford
