Shelbourne can be gotten at 17/10. St Patrick’s Athletic are 7/4 while the draw is 2/1

Preview

Shelbourne comes into this match following their impressive 0-3 victory against Sligo Rovers on Saturday Night where Jack Moylan put in another suburb performance with a hat-trick to earn Shelbourne the three points. Damien Duff has put together a well-coached side who are notoriously tough to beat with the joint-best defence in the league along with Derry with only ten goals conceded, while they have struggled in front of goal with only sixteen scored, Saturday shows it might be starting to click up-front also for the team. A victory on Friday could bring them up to third on the table.

St Patrick’s Athletic are still looking for a manager with Jon Daly in interim charge for the last three matches two wins and one defeat mean they are comfortable in sixth place on the table albeit two of those victories came against an out-of-form Drogheda and Cork City, but they can only defeat the teams put in front of them. With players like Chris Forrester, Conor Carty and Joe Redmond though they are still inarguably underperforming, that being said a win could bring them up to fourth on the table.

Prediction

Shelbourne 1-0 St Patrick’s Athletic

Cork City are 9/4, Sligo Rovers can be gotten at 11/10, while the draw is currently 12/5.

Cork City are in awful form having lost six out of their last six matches, they are the only team in either the Premier or First Division to have not had at least a point in that time frame. Last time out against Dundalk they were 0-1 up with 86 minutes played and they were looking like ending their poor form. What came next nobody could predict, an incredible turn of events with Josh Honohan getting controversially sent in the 87th minute, Cameron Elliot equalising in the 94th minute, Cork City Captain Cian Coleman getting controversially sent off in the 95th minute before Patrick Hoban scored the dramatic winner for Dundalk on the 97th minute.  Nothing is going right for Cork City at the moment, but a win could cut the gap between them to Drogheda to just two points.

Sligo Rovers come into this match following a disappointing defeat 0-3 to Shelbourne meaning they have three defeats and two wins in their last five matches. They currently occupy seventh place on the league table, but their poor run of form means they are now 4-points behind St Patrick’s Athletic in sixth. They will need a win on Friday Night to ensure they don’t get dragged into an impromptu relegation race with Drogheda, Cork City and UCD.

Prediction

Two sides in poor form Cork City 1-1 Sligo Rovers

Dundalk v Bohemians

Dundalk is 13/8, Bohemians can be gotten at 13/8, while the draw is currently 11/5

Dundalk lost convincingly to Derry City on Monday Night 3-0 which ended their record of four wins on the spin. Nevertheless, their recent upturn in form characterised by their dramatic victory over Cork City has the team back in European contention following their slow season start. They are currently in fourth place and only three points behind Bohemians in third place a big win would be needed to leapfrog them in the table with them currently seven goals behind them.

Bohemians have dropped off in recent weeks, they have gone from being early-season surprise title contenders to third place in the table. Last Friday Night they were defeated 0-1 by Derry City meaning they have two defeats, two wins and a draw in their last five matches. Things are tight in the Premier Division and Declan Devine’s side will need a victory on Friday Night to end their poor run of two defeats in their last two matches and will ensure they can stay in touch with Derry City and Shamrock Rovers

Prediction

Dundalk 1-1 Bohemians

Derry v UCD

Derry are 1/9, UCD can be gotten at 25/1 while the draw is 15/2.

Preview

Derry City are coming into this fixture on the back of a 3-0 victory against Dundalk on Monday Night which means they currently occupy second place on the table only two points behind Shamrock Rovers at the top of the table having won four of their last five league games. Derry know that if they win on Friday Night and results go their way they will climb to the summit of the table for the first time this season.

https://twitter.com/derrycityfc/status/1658445683278397442?s=20

UCD are bottom of the table with six points coming from their opening fifteen matches and were humbled 0-3 last Friday Night. The gap between themselves and Cork City remains 3 points. UCD know if they can pull off another shock on Friday then they could go level on points with Cork City as they look to prove everybody wrong again, I cannot see that happening though.

Prediction

Derry City 4-0 UCD

Shamrock Rovers v Drogheda

When? 8.00 pm, Friday, May 19th

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Shamrock Rovers are 3/10, Drogheda can be gotten at 8/1 while the draw is 4/1.

Preview

Shamrock Rovers are purring nicely, with six wins in their last six matches the four in a row title charge is well and truly back on putting their early season misfortune behind them. They are the top scorers in the league with their 34 goals scored across 16 matches 11 more than the next highest scorers Bohemians showing that attacking talent like Jack Byrne, Graham Burke and Rory Gaffney are on another level with the rest of the league. They will fancy more goals again on Friday Night.

https://twitter.com/ShamrockRovers/status/1658212335406686228?s=20

Drogheda comes into this match following their 3-0 defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic last Friday Night. However, many fans on both sides were saying that it was not a 3-0 game on Friday Night with Drogheda continuing to struggle for goals despite some decent performances. No matter the result on Friday Drogheda will remain in eighth position but will want to win to ensure the gap between themselves and above them doesn’t increase while the gap below them at a minimum stays the same.

Prediction

Shamrock Rovers 3-1 Drogheda
