We have a Real Madrid v Man City prediction and preview plus betting odds for you ahead of Wednesday’s  massive Champions League clash.

Man City v Real Madrid Odds

Man City are fancied to make advantage of home status with 88% of bettors fancying them to win on Wednesday Night and can be currently gotten at 4/7.

Real Madrid are second-favourites for the second leg of this Champions League tie with 9% of bettors going for an away victory, they can be currently gotten at 4/1 with only 3% backing the draw that can be gotten at 16/5.

The Form –  Man City v Real Madrid

Man City’s Form

Man City were drawn in a group with Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Copenhagen, they topped the group with four wins and two draws scoring fourteen goals and only conceding two.

In the Round of 16 they were drawn against RP Leipzig and after a 1-1 draw away they proceeded to dismantle them 7-0 at home in the second leg. They beat Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of their Quarter-Final and drew with them 1-1 to secure their Semi-Final spot against Real Madrid.

In the first leg, a 67th-minute Kevin De Bruyne strike earned them a 1-1 draw leaving the tie in the balance.

In the league they have  been an imperious winning machine this season winning their last eleven league matches and are currently top of the table with three games to play.

They only need one win to secure their third title in a row and keep a possible treble in sight with Man United coming up in the FA Cup Final.

Real Madrid’s Form

Real Madrid’s form this season has been interesting, from winning the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup on the other hand they were Runners-Up in the Supercopa de España and are currently only third in the La Liga one point behind Athletico Madrid and fourteen points off Barcelona.

They have the Copa del Rey final beating Getafe 2-1 in the final to win their third trophy of the season.

In the Champions League they were  drawn in a group which included RP Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic topping the group with four wins, one draw and one defeat. During the Group Stages, they scored fifteen goals and only conceded six meaning they won the group.

In what was seen as a glamour tie in the next round, a rematch of last season’s Champions League Final, they made light work of Liverpool beating them 5-2 in Anfield in the first leg before finishing the job in the second leg with a 1-0 win at home.

Following their 4-0 aggregate win over Chelsea after a 2-0 win in both ties they booked their place in the Semi-Final against Man City. The Champions League specialists went ahead through Vinícius Júnior in the 36th minute but a De Bruyne strike in the 67th minute means the tie is in the balance coming into Wednesday’s clash.

They are looking to win their sixth Champions League in the last 10 years and can take a huge step toward that aim by beating Man City in the second leg and booking their place in the final.

Man City v Real Madrid Preview

Man City’s Attack

Man City have the best attack in the Champions League this season with 27 goals scored in the competition thus far which is an average of 2.45 goals per match across their 11 games.

This attack is led by the freak of nature that is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has scored a staggering 12 goals and contributed 1 assist in this year’s competition which is good enough to be the current top-scorer in this season’s Champions League.

They  stopped Haaland in the first leg but were unable to prevent a Kevin De Bruyne strike showing they are more than a one-trick pony the likes of Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez are also capable of magic.

Real Madrid’s Defence

Real Madrid have conceded 9 goals across their 11 matches in the competition an average of 0.81 goals conceded per match which is impressive considering they have played the likes of Liverpool.

In the first leg, Real Madrid led by Antonio Rüdiger and co in defence but supported by the midfield adopted an aggressive defensive style designed to rough up Man City and in-particular Haaland, which proved largely successful, and I’d expect the same plan on Wednesday.

Real Madrid’s Attack

Before the first leg, we highlighted that Real Madrid possess one of the most exciting attacks in World Football. The likes of Rodrygo and Benzema have contributed to their 26 goals throughout the competition an average of 2.36 goals per match.

However, it was Vinicius Junior who we had highlighted as their leading figure in attack, and he duly obliged last weekend.

Every single time he got the ball you felt something could happen with his pace and skill terrorising the Man City defence, capping off that performance with a goal meaning he has 7 goals and 5 assists in the competition this season.

Man City’s Defence

Man City have conceded 5 goals across the competition an average of 0.45 goals conceded per game in each of their 11 games despite having played the likes of Bayern Munich.

However, as stated last week comes in that they dominate possession and so by definition will have to defend less, it may seem silly, but Man City’s defensive record is deceptive.  In the first leg, they had 56% of possession and I took home status could bring it up to 60% on Wednesday.

That’s arguably good news as they will be required to defend even less, but I think this will leave them even more open to Vinicius Junior on the counter.

Man City v Real Madrid Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Man City 1-2 Real Madrid

Man City are favourites and justifiably so with home advantage in the second leg and the tie in the balance and talent like Haaland and De Bruyne not easily stopped.

Real Madrid are trying to win their sixth Champions League in the last ten years, they know what it takes to get over the line in this competition and it would be foolish to write them off just yet.

Last week I said Real Madrid needed a first-leg win to stand a chance of going through, but I am going back on that prediction. Vinicius Junior to terrorise the Man City defence and experienced heads like Modric to lead them to victory.

Real Madrid has to win the first leg to have a chance to come through and I think they will do it narrowly with Haaland grabbing a goal for City to keep the tie in the melting pot heading into the second leg.

Best Bet:  Score and Win Vinicius Junior 10/1

If Man City are to go and win the treble, they will need to beat Madrid in this tie. They are also in the FA Cup Final and look on course for a Premier League title. We previewed City’s treble chances in a recent post.
