Bohemians v Dundalk Betting Odds

Bohemians are 5/4, Dundalk are 21/10, while the draw is 9/4.

Preview

Bohemians have gone from flying at the top of the table at the start of the season to falling well off the pace, and now, after two defeats, two draws, and one win in their last five league matches, they are eleven points off Shamrock Rovers in top spot.

Last Friday, Bohemians had a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Sligo Rovers. However, on Monday they recovered somewhat with a largely rotated fringe side beating Shelbourne  3-4 in the Leinster Senior Cup Semi-Final. A win for Bohemians will keep them in touch with those above them.

Dundalk has gone the opposite way to Bohemians, from inconsistent to consistent. Proof of that is their current run of form with four wins and one draw in their last five league matches.

Last Friday, they earned a huge 2-0 victory against Shamrock Rovers to spark a little pressure in the title race as we head into the busy European schedule. Victory for Dundalk on Friday could bring them as high as second on the table.

Prediction

Bohemians 1-3 Dundalk

Drogheda United v Shamrock Rovers Betting Odds

Drogheda are 9/2, Shamrock Rovers are 6/10 the draw is 11/4

Preview

Drogheda’s early season form has long since diminished, and with three defeats, one win and one draw in their last five matches, they find themselves locked in a relegation playoff battle with Sligo Rovers and Cork City.

On top of this, the Lincoln City pair of Elicha Ahui and Freddie Draper, who were excellent during their loan spell, have returned to England in what will be a huge loss for the club in the relegation battle. Drogheda always turns up against Shamrock Rovers, though, with one win and one draw this season, so they will fancy their chances again in this one.

Shamrock Rover’s five-game unbeaten run ended last weekend when they lost 2-0 against Dundalk in Oriel Park. That result showed people the title race isn’t over just yet as we head into an action-packed European schedule. They still lead the league by four points and will at least maintain that lead if they can beat their kryptonite in Drogheda.

Prediction

Drogheda 1-2 Shamrock Rovers

St Patrick’s Athletic v Cork City Betting Odds

St Patrick’s Athletic are 1/2, Cork City are 5/1, while the draw is 3/1

Preview

St Patrick’s Athletic are flying under new manager Jon Daly and have gone from arguably underperforming and underachieving earlier in the season to now being tipped in many quarters as a side that could mount an unlikely title challenge against Shamrock Rovers.

They had a comprehensive 7-0 win against UCD last Friday, which suggests that they are really coming to the boil, even if it was against the league’s bottom-of-the-table side. A win on Friday and a Shamrock Rovers defeat, and they would be just a point off top spot.

After a brief renaissance in their form, Cork City now have two defeats and one draw in their last three league matches which leaves them very much still in a relegation battle. Last Friday, they snatched a 1-1 draw against fellow rivals Drogheda despite being dominated for large periods of the game.

Rumours around Leeside suggest signings are coming, with Conor Drinan already added this week; more will be needed if they’re to stay in the division. This will be a tough fixture for them to get anything from though.

Prediction

St Patrick’s Athletic 2-1 Cork City

UCD v Shelbourne

UCD v Shelbourne Betting Odds

UCD are 13/2, Shelbourne can be gotten at 2/5, while the draw is 16/5.

Preview

UCD are bottom of the table with nine points coming from their opening twenty-two matches. While they earned an excellent 2-1 win to give them an outside chance of putting a run of form together. However, they were sent crashing down to earth last Friday when they were demolished 7-0 against St Pats.

In truth, UCD need a miracle to win here. With that being said, they will play a Shels side that does not score enough goals, so if they could grab an early lead, you can never say never.

Shelbourne are a frustrating side to support, to dislike and generally watch play. They promise so much, but without a regular goal-scorer, they’ve flattered to deceive with three draws, one win and one loss in their last five league matches.

Last Friday, they were unlucky to only draw 1-1 against Derry, and on Monday, their fringe players were knocked out by Bohemians 3-4 in the Leinster Senior Cup Semi-Final. However, victory on Friday (which seems likely) could put them only a point off Bohemians in fifth.

Prediction

UCD 0-3 Shelbourne

Derry City v Sligo Rovers

When? 7.45 pm, Friday, 7th July

Where? The Brandywell, Derry

Derry City v Sligo Rovers Betting Odds

Derry City are 6/10, Sligo Rovers can be gotten at 5/1, while the draw is 13/5.

Preview

Derry City has slipped off the pace with their two draws, two defeats and one win in their last five. This means they have fallen to third, two points behind in-form St Pats and six off title favourites Shamrock Rovers.

Last Friday, they were disappointing in their 1-1 draw against Shelbourne and another poor result against Dundalk this Friday could seem them fall further to fourth.

Sligo Rovers ended their four-match run without a victory with an excellent 3-1 victory against Bohemians last Friday. So while they remain locked in a relegation battle with Drogheda and Cork City, things can turn fast in this topsy-turvy league and another shock victory against a Derry in lacklustre form on Friday, and they could go within two points of Shelbourne in sixth place,

Prediction

Derry City 2-0 Sligo Rovers
