May Day! PM Odds-On To Survive Vote Of No Confidence

Theresa May is still being backed heavily by putters to survive a vote of no confidence despite being chalked up as on odds-on shot.

The Prime Minister will face the vote on Wednesday evening after 48 of her own MPs submitted letters of no confidence, but vowed that she will contest the vote and a number of others in her parliamentary party have already signaled they will be backing her.

BoyleSports have May at 2/7 to survive the vote, which will mean she will earn immunity from another formal challenge for another year.

She needs 158 of her 314 Conservative MPs to vote in her favour to win the ballot and it’s a 9/4 shot that she falls short, triggering a leadership election.

The early betting suggests between 100-149 Tory MPs could vote against the PM at 5/4, while it’s 3/1 that the number falls between 150-199, putting May in grave danger of losing her grasp on leadership of the party.

Should a leadership election come to pass, Boris Johnson is the front-runner to replace May as PM having been backed into 9/2 favourite from 6/1 on Wednesday morning…

…with Dominic Raab and Sajid Javid hot on his heels at 5/1.
