Mayo Club Final Odds – Ballina Title Favourites

The Mayo club final odds have been set as Ballina are hot favourites to be crowned champions after they reached their first county final since 2007.

Five-time county champions Ballintubber were just two points adrift at half-time in the semi-final clash in Castlebar, but the Stephenites ended up taking their goal tally to 14 for the campaign by finding the net three times and running out winners by a six-point margin.

Niall Heffernan’s side are now 4/7 shots from even money in the betting with BoyleSports to win a 37th county title and a first in 15 years.

There was late drama in the second semi-final as Castlebar Mitchels fired home an injury-time penalty to open up a two-point margin over Westport, but it’s the latter who booked a final date after substitute Shane Scott replied immediately with last-gasp goal of his own to seal a Westport victory by the narrowest of margins.

They will however start the decider as underdogs despite the chances of a first Mayo title heading to Westport falling into 5/4 from 3/1.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It took a stunning late twist to keep Westport on course for a first county title, but the odds suggest they’ll be up against it to seal the deal. Ballina’s ability to find the net served them well again and punters in the west clearly think they are going to take all the beating as they are enjoying the majority of support even after we cut them into 4/7 from even money.”
