Next Ireland Manager Odds Pulled After Gamble On Coleman

We have an update for you on the latest Next Ireland Manager odds after plenty of speculation that the FAI have chosen their man.

Next Ireland Manager Betting Suspended

Betting on the next Republic of Ireland manager is currently suspended by BoyleSports with an announcement on Stephen Kenny’s successor believed to be imminent.

The betting was pulled after a huge spike in market support on Sunday for former Wales manager Chris Coleman, whose most recent stint in management came via Greek Super League side Atromitos.

The former Fulham and Crystal Palace defender was down the list of likely candidates at 25/1 before the weekend, but plummeted to odds-on in the betting after reports surfaced that Neil Lennon had been told his application was unsuccessful.

Lennon was believed to be the FAI’s second choice behind top target Lee Carsley, who earned 40 caps as an Irish international between 1998 and 2008. The ex-Everton midfielder had once been as short as 1/4 to get the job, but talks to lure the England U-21 boss to the dugout with the Irish senior team appear to have stalled.

Other names who have been linked with the Rep. of Ireland job include Chris Hughton (who Kevin Doyle recently tipped to replace Stephen Kenny), Roy Keane and Anthony Barry.

Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented:

“We’ve had a couple of false dawns before so we have to be cautious, but the rush to get on Chris Coleman suggests there has been a late and unexpected twist in the tale.”
