This Coleraine outfit could be described as bang on average this season with a record in the league of three wins, two draws and two defeats. They also have a goal difference of zero after scoring ten and conceding ten.

Reigning League Champions Larne have started the season where they left off last year. The club are now unbeaten in their seven matches, although they might be a tad disappointed not to have more than four victories.

Larne had a big win in the early-season title race last time out with a 2-0 win over Linfield.

Carrick have been progressively improving in recent seasons and it will be interesting to see whether they can maintain their progress this year. However, following two defeats in their last two games they have fallen to ninth in the table with just seven points earned in their opening eight games.

There is a gap being created early with them already four points behind Coleraine in seventh.

Newry are having a poor start to their seaso. From their eight matches, they have two wins and six defeats.

They’ll be hoping to end their four-game pointless streak after a difficult stretch against Crusaders, Larne, Glentoran and Coleraine all in their last four league games.

Dungannon are level on points with Newry, although that doesn’t tell the full story as they’re ahead of them with a goal difference of -3 compared with Newry’s -14.

In Dungannon’s last four matches, they have earned five points with a notable 0-0 draw against Glentoran last time out.

Glenavon have seven points from their opening eight games. It should be noted that all of those seven have been won in their last four league games with a draw against Loughgall, a win against Ballymena and a win against Carrick. Crusaders should prove a much stiffer test for them in this game though.

Loughgall v Linfield

Newly promoted Loughgall have started this season very well with eleven points from their opening seven matches.Β  Eight of those were won in their last four games.

While not the most prolific in front of goal with twelve goals scored, the strength is their defence with eight conceded making them the fourth-best defence in the division.

Linfield are coming into this on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Larne which was their first loss of the season.

Despite that loss, their strong form means they’re currently second on the table, only one point behind Glentoran with one less game played. This Linfield side look well placed to challenge for the title again this season.

Ballymena are bottom of the Northern Ireland Premiership with seven defeats from their opening eight games. On a more positive note, they won their first league game of the season two games ago against Carrick 0-1.

Ballymena most recently lost 1-3 to Loughgall if this form holds they will be under severe pressure to secure their Premiership status this season.

Cliftonville had a big win on Monday Night which ended their three-game winless run and they now have thirteen points from their opening seven games under Jim Magilton. This is another very winnable fixture and despite criticism of his appointment, they could find themselves climbing the table with a victory.
