Nottingham Forest, following their promotion into the league last season, narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League despite being 18^th with four games remaining. They earned a total of eight points in those final four games with wins against Southampton, and Arsenal and draws against Chelsea and Crystal Palace to finish 16^th.

Forest had a lot of squad turnover last year which continued this year with ten permanent first-team signings including Elanga, Wood, Hudson-Odoi and Irish International Omobamidele.
