Derry City floundered any chance of a late league title challenge last Friday Night (by my reckoning) when they lost to Sligo Rovers 1-0 meaning with five games remaining they’re now five points behind Shamrock Rovers at the summit of the table.
This should be a winnable fixture though with Derry City winning 13/17 of their games including three from three this season scoring thirteen goals and conceding only one goal.
UCD ended their four-match losing streak with a spirited draw against Shamrock Rovers last Friday Night. That draw was not enough to secure their Premier Division status for another week, and they’re confirmed for the First Division next season.
This was a free-hit for UCD though and that remains for the club for their remaining five games, there is no pressure on the club.

Despite taking a 0-1 against Bohemians on Monday Night an Ali Coote equaliser meant that the points were shared in Dalymount. Following that draw, Duff has spoken about how it was a missed opportunity for the club and that those who want an easy life will not be at Shelbourne next season.
With the club currently fourth three points behind St Patrick’s Athletic with five games remaining, a win here would be huge for their European aspirations.

It’s been a turbulent month for Dundalk which has seen them forfeit their chances of European Football next season following poor league form and a cup elimination at the hands of Galway.
Dundalk started the month with a 1-3 defeat to Derry and that was followed by a 4-0 Quarter-Final defeat from Galway and a 3-1 defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic. A faint hope remains following their 5-0 victory against Cork City on Monday, but no room for error exists as the season closes.

Despite Drogheda also being eliminated at the Quarter-Final stage of the FAI Cup, as well as trailing Dundalk on the league table by seven points, there is an overwhelming sense of positivity about the direction of Drogheda this season.
The job done under Kevin Doherty despite a part-time budget and coping with the loss of Adegboyega has been commendable and with talks of investment going into the club next season, the future is bright for Drogheda United.

It’s been an interesting month for Bohemians, winning their FAI Cup Quarter-Final against Drogheda 2-1 winning the Leinster Senior Cup Final 0-5 but also only earning two points from their three league games.
The prevailing narrative around whether this season will have been positive for the club will boil down to their performances in the coming weeks, especially in the FAI Cup. However, with four of the bottom five to play in their remaining five league games, they could still climb the table further.

Cork City Football Club are in a cataclysmic state. There was a renewed sense of optimism at the club following their 3-0 victory against Sligo Rovers at the start of the month combined with their 2-1 FAI Cup Quarter-Final victory against Wexford.
That sense of optimism has proved to be only fleeting, losing their next two league games 2-1 against Shelbourne and a shambolic 5-0 loss against Dundalk to all but confirm that they will face the dreaded relegation playoff.
