League of Ireland First Division Tips & Betting Odds – Gameweek 33

In this post, you can find our League of Ireland First Division tips and betting odds ahead of Gameweek 33 of the season.

League Of Ireland First Division Table

Here’s how the First Division table looks after Round 32.

Galway v Athlone

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 29th September

Where? Eamonn Deacy Park, ‎Galway

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Galway can be gotten at 1/4, Athlone are 8/1, while the draw is 9/2.

Preview

Galway finally confirmed their seemingly inevitable promotion back to the Premier Division with a 0-4 victory against Kerry FC last Friday Night. That was followed by a routine 1-0 victory over Finn Harps on Monday Night. However, with the title confirmed against Kerry and a largely first-11 played against Finn Harps.

It will be interesting to see how they approach this Athlone game with a huge FAI Cup Semi-Final clash the following week against Bohemians, I wouldn’t be shocked to see some squad rotation for this dead rubber.

Athlone on the other hand needs five points from their remaining four league games to confirm their status in the final playoff spot.

Despite being eight clear of Longford, they’ve been largely hit and miss with two wins in their last five games and two defeats in their last three league games. However, victory here could climb them up to third in the table.

Prediction

Galway 1-1 Athlone

Athlone Town or Draw @ 5/2

Bray v Cobh

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 29th of September

Where? The Carlisle Grounds, Bray

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Bray are 6/4, Cobh can be gotten at 6/4 while the draw is 12/5.

Preview

Bray still has a mathematical chance of claiming the final playoff spot but would have to win all their remaining four league games and have a sensational amount of luck elsewhere. It’s safe to say that they will be in the First Division next season after just claiming four points in their last five games. They could either down tools now or take their remaining games as a free hit.

Cobh continued their winning crusade by winning their fourth game in a row last Friday Night when they hammered Harps 5-1 in St. Colman’s Park. It seems to me that they’re coming to form in perfect timing before the promotion playoff begins in a few weeks. I’d expect them to come into this fixture sharp and fully focused.

Prediction

Bray 0-2 Cobh

Best Bet

Cobh Ramblers -1 @ 4/1

Waterford v Wexford

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 29th September

Where? The Regional Sports Centre, Waterford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Waterford can be gotten at 1/3, Wexford are 13/2, while the draw is 15/4.

Preview

Waterford will likely enter the playoffs in a few weeks as the First Division side most fancied to challenge the Premier Division side for promotion, in a funny turn of events they could end up facing Munster rivals Cork City who knocked them out of the FAI Cup second-round 3-0 back in August.

Four league games are remaining yet though and will want to earn more than the seven they have gotten in their last five in their last four. Victory in this one would secure their second successive runners-up finish in the First Division.

Wexford following their FAI Cup Quarter-Final defeat against Cork City, will be looking to build up a run of form to confirm their playoff spot these next two weeks before mounting another promotion challenge.

In the league, they’ve thirteen points in their last five league games and will fancy a shock in Waterford.

Prediction

Waterford 1-1 Wexford

Best Bet

Wexford FC or Draw @ 2/1

Finn Harps v Kerry

When? 7.45 pm, Friday 29th September

Where? Ballybofey, ‎Donegal

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Finn Harps can be gotten at 1/2, Kerry are 9/2, while the draw is 3/1.

Preview

Finn Harps following their spirited 1-2 FAI Cup Quarter-Final defeat against St Patrick’s Athletic have lost their preceding league games 5-1 against Cobh Ramblers (which subsequently saw Dave Rogers step down with the club) and a 1-0 defeat against Galway on Monday Night. It’s looking like a second-from-bottom finish for the club with four games remaining in what has been a difficult season for the club.

Kerry has four games left in what has been a historic first season for the newly formed League of Ireland club. Their eight-point total from their thirty-two games does not tell the full story and the progression of the club on the field especially regarding performances has been clear to see throughout the season. With one league win of the season so far this game gives them their best chance before the season closes.

Prediction

Finn Harps 0-1 Kerry

Longford v Treaty

When? 7.30 pm, Saturday 30th September

Where? Bishopsgate, ‎Longford

How To Watch? LOITV.ie

MATCH BETTING ODDS

Longford can be gotten at 21/20, Treaty are 11/5, while the draw is 12/5.

Preview

Longford still harbours faint hopes of reaching the playoffs but will require a near-perfect record in their four remaining league games to stand any chance. Longford have lost their last two league games 0-3 against Waterford and 2-0 against Wexford, but a win here and they remain with some sort of chance.

Treaty trails Longford by one point on the table and are two points clear of Bray in eighth place. However, contrary to Longford they come into this match in solid form with four points from their last two games following a 2-2 draw with Bray and a 4-1 victory against Athlone. Like Longford, this is a must-win for the club.

Prediction

Longford 1-2 Treaty

Best Bet

Treaty Win and Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/2
