Man City were drawn in a group which included Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Copenhagen where they had four wins and two draws scoring fourteen goals and only conceding two.
In the Round of 16 they were drawn against RP Leipzig and after a 1-1 draw away they proceeded to dismantle them 7-0 at home in the second leg. They beat Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of their Quarter-Final and drew with them 1-1 to secure their Semi-Final spot in the Champions League and a chance to avenge last year’s defeat to Real Madrid in this competition.
Man City in the Premier League has been an imperious winning machine this season winning their last nine league matches and are currently top of the table with five games to play they have one game in hand on title rivals Arsenal who are one point behind.
City also have a Wembley FA Cup final date with Manchester rivals Man United coming up too and are on course to win a famed treble.
Real Madrid’s Form
Real Madrid’s form this season has been interesting, from winning the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup on the other hand they were Runners-Up in the Supercopa de España and are currently only third in the La Liga one point behind Athletico Madrid and fourteen points off Barcelona.
They have the Copa del Rey final this Saturday as their warm-up to their Champions League Semi-Final but how did they get to this tie with Man City?
Real Madrid was drawn in a group which included RP Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic topping the group with four wins, one draw and one defeat. During the Group Stages, they scored fifteen goals and only conceded six meaning they won the group.
In what was seen as a glamour tie in the next round, a rematch of last season’s Champions League Final, they made light work of Liverpool beating them 5-2 in Anfield in the first leg before finishing the job in the second leg with a 1-0 win at home.
Following their 4-0 aggregate win over Chelsea after a 2-0 win in both ties they booked their place in the Semi-Final against Man City. The Champions League specialists will be looking to win their sixth title in the last 10 years and can take a huge step toward that aim by beating Man City in the first leg at home.

Real Madrid’s Attack
Real Madrid boasts one of the most exciting and rounded attacks in World Football and some would even go as to call them the best. In their 10 Champions League games, they have scored 25 goals giving them an average of 2.5 goals per game.

Man City’s Defence
Man City’s defence has been extremely impressive throughout the competition only conceding 4 goals across their 10 matches an average of just 0.4 goals conceded per match made even more impressive by the fact they have played the likes of Bayern Munich.
Much of their defensive strength comes in the fact that they dominate the ball against most teams they play but Real Madrid will be their biggest test so far in the competition and can cause them trouble with their quick counter attacks.
Man City’s Attack

This attack is led by the freak of nature that is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has scored a staggering 12 goals and contributed 1 assist in this year’s competition which is good enough to be the current top-scorer in this season’s Champions League.
Aside from Haaland (even if Madrid can stop him) Man City have a dearth of attacking options at their disposal with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez.
Real Madrid’s Defence
Real Madrid has a less impressive defence than City in this competition albeit their 8 goals conceded are still excellent at only 0.8 goals per match given they’ve plaed the likes of Liverpool.
In the last round, they kept a clean sheet against Chelsea in both legs and will be hoping to use that momentum to help them stop the freak that is Haaland.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 Man City
This is a tough tie to call and arguably the “final before the final” as the team which comes through both legs is almost certain to be favourites for the Champions League final.
Real Madrid has to win the first leg to have a chance to come through and I think they will do it narrowly with Haaland grabbing a goal for City to keep the tie in the melting pot heading into the second leg.
