“Party Central for Gordon Elliott is a big fancy of mine but not since 2013 has a mare won the Galway Hurdle. Zarack the Brave is most likely to start the favourite but not since 2000 has a four-year-old won the Galway Hurdle.”

“Take these things into equation and I’m going with My Mate Mozzie for Gavin Cromwell – a good win on the flat the last day at Tramore. He was almost a grade 1 winner over hurdles. He’s a very very good horse and he’s got a nice weight on his back. If he gets a bit of luck in running, I think he could take a lot of beating in the Galway Hurdle.”

Bookies Make Out Ok On Day 3 At Galway

Ash Tree Meadow was “nicely backed” with BoyleSports to win the Galway Plate at Day 3 of the Galway Races, coming in the 13/2 2nd favourite, ridden by top young pilot Danny Gilligan. Despite being well backed with the bookies, they escaped relatively unscathed.

A spokesperson for BoyleSports said:

“The overall result of the race with the places wasn’t too bad so despite Ash Tree Meadow being well backed, we didn’t do too badly!”
