Robert MacIntyre The Home Pick In Strong Scottish Open Field

Robert MacIntyre is being backed as the most likely candidate to deliver a home win at this week’s Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

The Oban man, who finished five shots off the winning score last year at the same venue, is set to return to the fairways after missing last week’s Irish Open following his identification as a close contact to a Covid case.

The world number 51 is now being well backed to bounce back in his final preparation event before next week’s Open Championship,

as we were forced to cut his chances of topping the leaderboard in his home Open into 30/1 from 35/1 this week.

That makes him the most likely Scottish winner according to punters ahead of the likes of Callum Hill, Richie Ramsey and Grant Forrest (all 100/1).

With the fourth and final major championship of the season, The Open, just a week away, the East Lothian links has attracted a stellar cast including Americans Xander Schauffele (11/1), Collin Morikawa (12/1) and Justin Thomas (14/1), but it’s recent US Open winner Jon Rahm who is set to tee off favourite at 6/1.
