Seeley’s Selections – Chile v Uruguay

Chile v Uruguay

Match Betting

After a slow start to the Copa America, say it quietly, but I’m starting to feel very confident about our pre-tournament tip on Chile winning this tournament…

…and I’m totally convinced that the hosts will see off defending champions Uruguay in their quarter-final clash in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Chileans are just getting better and better as this tournament goes and after their 5-0 demolition of Bolivia in their last qualification match, they arrive in the last eight in red hot form.

Chile are the tournament’s top goalscorers with 10 goals already in their three group matches and that will be the difference is this one against the defending champions who are really struggling to find the net without the suspended Luis Suarez.

Jorge Sampaoli’s side have goalscorers all over the pitch. Three different players in the top four competitions are top scorers and with FIVE different players on the scoresheet already, it will be impossible for Uruguay to stop them scoring.

La Roja get all the plaudits for their attacking skills – and rightly so – but their defence doesn’t get the credit it deserves and against this struggling Uruguay attack, I can’t see them conceding either.

Ok so where do we make the money?

Well a Chile win looks a good thing to me at the 4/5 which is available with BoyleSports and whether you want to play it as a single or mix it up with some Under 21 action, that’s up to you; but make sure they are included.

A win to nil for Chile is also appealing at the better price of 8/5 with BoyleSports as they’ve won two of their three group games already won without conceding.

Also, against a Uruguay team that have only scored just TWO goals in this tournament, that looks a fair shout.

However poor Uruguay are up front, they are still a rock solid outfit at the back where they are fantastically marshalled by Atletico Madrid’s excellent Diego Godin and with him in their ranks, it won’t be easy to break them down but they will eventually.

Under 2.5 goals has been a winner in all of Uruguay’s games so far in this Copa America and at 8/13 with BoyleSports for bigger players, that’s another way to get against the goals action and for more optimistic punters, a 1-0 win for the hosts at 9/2 with BoyleSports makes the most appeal.

Chile have goal threats from all over the field but the man who has led the way for them in this tournament is Aturo Vidal and at a very generous 6/1 with BoyleSports, he looks the man that punters should turn to yet again to get the first goal in Santiago.

The Juventus midfielder has already bagged three goals in what has been a turbulent tournament for him both on and off the field and in a game which has the massive potential to spill over into a fiery one, the fact that he takes the penalties gives him the edge in this market and I also like the 2/1 with BoyleSports on him scoring at anytime in what I expect to be a fiery 90 minutes.

B Lucky!
